Post subject: 200D02 Tail Rotor Trouble-HELP! |
|
|
New to the forum and on my 2nd copter. 1st was a Syma S107 which was really easy to fly so I thought I'd step up and try something a little better. I have been having issues getting the trims adjusted to fly with any reasonable control. So I've broken 2 blades off the tail rotor and can't get the rotor off to replace it. I'm afraid I might bend or brake something if I put too much pressure. I've also noticed the main drive gear has some slightly buggered up teeth.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys. _________________ Toys are what keeps a man young at heart;-) |

Looks to me like you just pull the old tail rotor off. I looked at Xheli. They have the helicopter and parts.

When looking at the replacement tail rotor it appears that you pull the old on off and push the new one on. Go for it.

PJ, that was what I tried but thought I might break it. I guess I'm gonna have to put alittle more muscle behind it.
Thanks for the reply! _________________ Toys are what keeps a man young at heart;-) |

Zcat - it's broke anyway. Just give it a good pull and push on the new one. You got nothing to lose. _________________ RC Submarines (3)

+1 on that PJ. What more could go wrong?
Well, perhaps ripping the shaft out of its housing!

Maybe you should invest in a E-Flite gear puller. I'm sure it would remove your tail rotor. I've got one and it's a super good tool. Removes and replaces stuff.

+1 on that Jack, doesn't sound too much like a brute force job. Although crushing the old rotor in a vice might get it off, but then you still have to fit the new one. (As long as the shaft isn't bent. )

The gear puller tool is probably going to be the answer. It would be easy to bend the shaft with a vice, thought of that but figure there has to be a safer solution. I tried to heat it a little hoping that would loosen it up but no luck there. Where do I get this gear puller, I doubt Harbor Frieght has it, althouigh I have seen some neat contraptions to hold things in place there. _________________ Toys are what keeps a man young at heart;-) |

E-Flite makes a super gear puller. It also will press a gear on. The way it's built I'm sure it will pull the tail rotor and press the new one back on. Check out horizon hobby for it.

Thanks PJ, that's what I'll order. It does look like a really usefull tool, specially for a noobe like me. I'm sure I'll be pulling a few gears & rotors off as my feeble flying skills improve _________________ Toys are what keeps a man young at heart;-) |

I just use wire cutters and cut the plastic off the shaft. Dont need to install the new one all the way either. Just push it on with your fingers util it wont slide anymore. Makes it easier to replace next time.Get the Esky honeybee fpv2 tail rotors and trimm them down evenly and the Walkera V200D01 tail gears and drill a hole in the hbfpv2 rotor and put the V200 tail gear in the hole and install it on your heli. This works great.Buy 4 of them and they will last you about a year. _________________ Rubber heli skills |

I used an electrical wire stripping tool, which on its nose has sort of an anvil and cutter which is not as sharp as a regular wire cutter. I used that to split the hub of the tail blade and it came off easily.
More difficult is replacing the main gear when that gets chewed up by the motor gear. What is the best tool for getting that tiny pin out of that gear? I got it out once with a paper clip, but in the confusion of dropping and finding those pins (one of which stuck to the motor magnet), I accidentally put the damaged gear back on, and now a paper clip just bends over trying to push the pin out.
Is there some sort of pliers that is concave on one side with a push pin on the other to push pins out of shafts? |

The way i take the pins out is just with a push pin. if the paper clip or any other bailing type wire that you can find that is longer and you can bend it to keep from comming off the shaft would work great.Thats what i did and it makes repaire easy. _________________ Rubber heli skills |
