Post subject: Blade 400 tail pitch issue |
|
|
Thought I would start a new thread for this one...
I was watching the way the rudder works in terms of pitch change on the tail rotor and noticed something kind of weird to me. When I apply right or left rudder (no matter how much or to which direction) the servo seems to go to it's relative position but it then seems to "creep" and steadily moves to the extreme of that direction of travel until it hits it's mechanical limit. This happens dispite my not moving the rudder stick at all but just holding it steady in the "desired" "sub-extreme", position.
Further...when left to it's own devices and with the TX rudder stick in it's neutral position, the servo "creeps" to a default, extreme "nose left" position in terms of the tail rotor pitch mechanism. This kind of tallys with my noticing the heli turning nose left when spooling up and need a lot of right stick to steady it.
It takes about 2 seconds or so for the servo to creep from one extreme to the other. The trims and subtrims on the TX are centered.
Obviously (if my observations play out when everything is in full stride), if I go to fly it like this it will spin rather severly to the left with only some serious right stick to keep it in control. The servo will then "creep" and the opposite problem would come into play.
Any ideas as to what could be causing this? _________________ If only I could fly as well as I spend money I don't have...

No idea o n specific cause, but if I were you I would swap servos and see if the different servo make a difference. Could be a faulty servo or faulty trim setting of some sort. _________________ E-Razor 450 + Air Hogs Pocket Copter + Radd's School of Rotary Flight = Teh Awesomness |

I've been told it is a function of the Heading Hold gyro not having proper flight heading info coming in. I'm told it will behave as one would hope when it is actually being flow... not sitting on my livingroom floor having me fret over it. _________________ If only I could fly as well as I spend money I don't have...

You are told correctly there Tom, this is a function of the HH Mode when the heli is grounded. If it happens in Rate Mode then start to worry.
