Bought one today and am having a blast. For a newbie coming off of co-axials this little quad provides a nice learning curve. It is stable but very quick. Would recommend. Relatively easy on the pocketbook. I bought the BNF and used the transmitter from my CX2. |

Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about getting one but been waiting to hear what real pilots (not what Horizon says) have to say about this little quad copter.
Do you think it has enough power to lift a "key chain cam" stuck under it? _________________ Next Level 650 Quad Copter, T-Rex 500, 450SEv2 & 250

It does have enough power to lift a key chain cam. Saw a YouTube video that did just that. It has enough power to do a loop and roll. Have seen those videos as well. I'm not good enough on the sticks to do either at this point. |

I picked one up and I've been loving it. I was expecting it to be small, but when I opened the box I still couldn't help but laugh, this thing is almost impossibly small. However, because of the 4 rotors, it has a larger air presence than I was expecting. It's super stable, but it's also easily the most aerobatically-capable FP I've ever flown.
It's not mentioned in the manual, but there is 40% expo pre-programmed into the 4-in-1 board. IMO, it's too much, the stick is practically dead around the center, but then if you really throw the stick it flips right over. I'd rather control be more consistent, so I counteracted some of the stock expo with - 20% transmitter expo.
Speaking of flips and rolls, this thing is more than capable. I've found you lose less altitude if you start from a stationary position, rather than from FFF. It also helps if you increase servo travel to the max in your transmitter. It's not like there's actually any servos that could bind.
X-mode is absolutely vital for flips and rolls and I think it's better for precision hovering. But (+)-mode is a thousand times better for FFF; it's just a lot smoother and less twitchy than X-mode in FFF.
Overall I really like it! My bigger quads are kind of boring, but this thing is a blast and a half. _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

Nick--I see you are using a DX8. I am a relatively new addict and have been seriously considering the purchase of a DX6i. Can you help me with specifics on how to program one of these for the quad? I bought the BNF, my first, and am using a transmitter that came with my CX2. The sticks are very sensitive and require very little movement to significantly move the quad. |

Absolutely bro, and I won't be the only one. The DX6i is a very popular radio, so you have lots of people with lots of experience with it who can help you out.
Settings for the mQX specifically couldn't be simpler, literally the only relevant thing to change is dual-rates and expo. _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

1. Pressing the click-wheel in takes you to the main menu.
2. Scroll down to "D/R - EXPO". Select it by pressing the click-wheel in.
3. You will be presented with settings for the ELEVATOR first. Change the dual-rate from 100 to 70, or even lower if you wish. Increase the expo to 20%, or even more if you wish.
4. Scroll up to where it says elevator, and scroll over to AILERON. Change the settings to the same settings you used for the elevator.
5. Turn off the transmitter and plug in the heli.
6. Turn the transmitter back on while holding the Trainer switch.
7. The model is now bound and ready to fly with more docile controls. _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

I stoped at the LHS today and picked up the MQX, my first multi rotor. This thing is a blast to fly E-Flite really hit a home run with this model.
I got the RTF, but for indoor flying I'll fly it on my DX7 till I get the hang of this quad. Even though it's super stable, it will get up & go in a hurry. So for now 70% DR & 20% expo feels best for me. After some practice I thing the stock
And yes, it does lift a keychain cam no problem. Even with the extra weight of the cam I flew 8 min and had power to spare after landing. _________________ Next Level 650 Quad Copter, T-Rex 500, 450SEv2 & 250

I got my MQX a few days ago. Usng a Spektrum DX8. Thanks for the setup info, I'll give it a try. I'm brand new to R/C helis, so I'm reading all I can.
Anything you can tell me will help!
Can't wait till the wind dies down so I can stop terrorizing my dog, and apologizing to my wife. _________________ Brian

I think I caught a bad case of Quad fever from flying my MQX.
I have a Next Level 650 MM Quad kit on the way

Heard some good stuff about it on the All Things that Fly podcast and after having so much fun with the little MQX, I'm ready to try flying with the big dogs. _________________ Next Level 650 Quad Copter, T-Rex 500, 450SEv2 & 250

Don't see the point of your post IridiumFox, if you want to save text from the posts here you just:
1. Outline it (left click and drag)
2. Copy it (right click select copy, or use keys - can be different for different languages)
3. Paste it into a file (Select position and paste)

Thanks for the help!
BTW does anyone know if there is PC simulator for the Blade mQX? So far the only simulator I found is Phoenix's 3.0 that contains Gaui 330X. I am only interested in quadcopters and try to get as much simulation practices as I can before I fly/crash the real stuff! |

Hi IridiumFox,
I sometimes make models for the ClearView sim. Looks like an interesting project, there are however, two possible snags:
1. I may not be able to get the right photos for construction.
2. Clearview may not be able to handle 4 rotors. I will look into this part.
Meanwhile if you could try to find some good photos taken at 90º (not judged by eye, it's not good enough for this,) to the model showing left, right, front, back, top and bottom; these will form the basis of a 3D image and texture file for ClearView. Links to photos would be fine.
I feel that there would have to be two models one in the "X" style and one in the "Y" style as each will perform quite differently. I am certain that the switch could not be made on a single model in ClearView.
