Post subject: Blade SR 120 Drifts Uncontrollably Left |
|
|
Greetings!
I just purchased a Blade 120 SR and I've figured out how to stabilize it more or less using the various transmitter control Trim buttons, but I can't stop it from drifting immediately left as soon as it begins to lift off the floor. The heli doesn't rotate at all - it just starts drifting.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated!
Thanks so much!!!

hi kornbert and welcome to the forum.
there is nothing wrong with your heli it is behaving quite normally.
leave your trim set to centre and give a small amount of right cyclic as you get light on the skids and release it after you leave the ground. once out of ground effect and a few inches up you can then trim as needed. i have two 120 sr and they both need very little trim. they are quite stable but it wont stay in one spot without a bit of help from you. good choice if its your first heli. you may also find this site interesting. http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/ |

Hi kornbert,
Welcome to the forum, there is nothing wrong with the 120 what you are getting is the effect of the tail motor pushing it to the left, apply a bit of right aileron until you get clear of the ground and then then the helicopter will neutralise once it is out of the ground effect.
Go back through the older posts there are heaps of replys detailing the full dynamics of this effect. _________________ Keep your rotors spinning

Thanks for your responses guys! I've decided I'm not big enough for the SR 120 yet so I got an MCX2 to fly around my living room. My son is quite impressed!

I received the MCX2 for Christmas and then bought the 120 SR. I then ordered the training gear for the 120 SR, which helped a lot. I'm still having fun with the MCX2 to get more comfortable with the controls when the heli is sideways or facing me. It's weird how I am so comfortable with gliders, but getting used to the heli controls is really a challenge...which is why I was so interested in getting into them. Have fun! |
