...spy camera to you and me.

Some of the threads on here are ancient (2008) on the subject, and so much has moved on since.

I'm thinking of getting one of those little key-fob cameras (eBay/Amazon/HK et al.) to strap under the fuselage/nose cone, so am looking for any feedback/recommendations. Thought it may be fun to record my first efforts later in the year at FBL hovering... Laughing

Any suggestions and/or fitting/wiring tips?

Cheers

Hi Matelot,

They are great, the results are not always that great, but it is a lot of fun anyway, I have been thinking of getting one of the HD ones should be an improvement over the old one I have.

There is no wiring to consider the units are fully self contained, I mounted mine using double sided valcro and cable ties between the skids on my old CX2, if you use just cable ties you get too much vibration.

Here is the CX2 one its hard to believe that I made this two years ago.

I've had two of these type cams and video quality is really pritty good considering the price of them. Thing you want to be sure is that there is as little vibration in the heli as possible, blades balanced, shafts straight, gears intact... Then experiment with different foam mounting pads.

I've got one of these and the 'Spy Glasses' as well. Makes for as good combination. Haven't been able to get the mini cam as stable as it should be in flight (see Tombo242 channel on Youtube) but it's great in the hand or on the yacht.

Tom.
