Hi Guys,
I 'm very new to the hobby so I need some help with my brand new CB180Z. The first flight went OK, I was able to hover and turn alittle..then on the second flight the helicopter does not seem to have enough power to take off. I've charged the battery pack and replaced the batteries in the TX to no avail.

Turns out the two screws that hold down the brushless motor were loose...thanks for your help Keith.

We'll after my first crash ( in the grass from about seven or eight feet ) my CB now only responds to the throttle and even then only enough to get it off the ground about two feet with the training gear on. I've checked all my connections and screws this time but everything seems where it should be? Any comments would be of great help as there are no hobby shops around .( I bought it from WOW Hobbies)Thanks in advance.

Hi Dan, Check the main gear for missing/damaged teeth. Does it try to spin in circles when throttle applied? may have teeth damaged on rear tail shaft. Do the servoes respond to any stick imput? Maby this will help somewhat. Lane

Yes it does spin in circles when I apply throttle and I did replace the two rear tail shaft gears closest to the main gear but the rotor still does not spin. The servoes do seem to respond to imput....I'll check the main gear for missing teeth and get back to you. Thanks for your help!

An inspection of the main gear shows a small amount of wear but to be honest I don't know what it looked like when brand new so I've ordered a new one ( actually two of them) just in case. It will take about a week to get the parts so looks like I'm grounded AGAIN Evil or Very Mad

OK..new gears are in and still unable to fly! Now it doesn't have enough power to take off. The main blades and the tail rotor turn and all the servos appear to be working. I tried a fresh battery but that didn't help either. i'm about ready to give up.

What tx are you using? WK2402, WK2403, 2801pro. If you have the 2403 make sure the switch on the right is pushed up and the knob on the left is all the clockwise. Let us know Lane

I do have the WK2403 tx and tried both of your sugestions but still no take off? Could it be that the motor pinion is to tight with the main gear and is restricting it's movement?

yes that could be a problem, you should be able to turn the head without a lot of resistance, make sure the tail gear not binding. I've flown a 180Z for over a year with no problems except the ones i've created.

Another thing to try back the motor away from the main gear throttle up and see if the motor spins properly. May help isolate the problem. Lane

Hi Dan after a few cups of coffee and looking at 180Z the brushless speed controller may be damaged or possible connection problem. Don't know how to check voltage/resistance thru it, but I'm sure someone here does. good luck Lane

I've backed the motor away from the main gear and gave it some throttle..everything seems OK. Also checked my conections to the ESC and everything OK there too. Maybe I just bought my first lemon heli?
