PostPost subject: Cobra Toys defender YD-911 - Increasing flight time?

Hello there,

I'm completely new to RC Helicopters, having only had the mini-indoor kind, however for my birthday I was brought a "Cobra Toys defender YD-911"

It came with a 7.4v 1100mAh li-po battery, which gives it a 10 minute flight time.

I'm pretty sure the battery space is around 55mm Length, 45mm width.

Is there any way for me to increase the flight time maybe with a more powerful battery? The batteries I've seen have been quite large.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Dale.

Hello Dalepiggott:

Welcome to our forum.

About 10 minutes is all you can expect from an RC helicopter. That's pretty much a standard. If you increase the battery size with a higher MHA rating your going to increase weight which will take more power to keep your helicopter up. So you can see that will just cost you your higher MHA rating.

So should like your motor cool between flights anyway so just get more batteries like moparherb said and you can increase flight time that way. I have two batteries for my B400, 4 batteries for my CP Pro 2 and 8 batteries for my MSR. Increasing flight time like that.

Thanks for posting your locartion in your profile. Most people don't do that.

Jack

YES! More batteries and a rest between flights is the only way to do it.

The only problem with swapping batteries is getting it out. I've not managed to figure out how to remove the battery since it's in cased inside with no access I'm pretty sure I'll have to undo every screw to get at it, being that'd take so long I might as well just recharge it.

But thanks for the advice, I wasn't sure what the average flight time of a heli was, my mini ones fly for around twenty minutes, but they are very tiny!

I have pretty cool RC helicopters like Apache and Black Hawk that last longer than 15 minutes. My dad bought them last month from http://www.cobratoys.co.uk/ and they are really cool toys to play with indoor and outdoor.

Of course the only thing to have longer playtime with your helicopters is to get extra batteries and give time for your helicopter to rest to prolong its life.

So for the same helicopter, does anyone know where to get another charger or another charger/ battery combo? I seem to have misplaced mine. Sad

Hi Kazay,

This thread is now 3 years old, so you may not have much luck. You could try this page, I think the Cobra is now called the Defender:

http://www.xhobbystore.com/yd-911-spare-battery.html

It helps us to help you if you fill in your location. Saves getting links to the wrong country.

Tom.

Hiya, I'm rebuilding my t34 coax heli for some windy flying in the winter, I stopped using it due to the upper gear and motor stripped after another dynamic crash! Rolling Eyes
