I am looking for a 450 size helicopter that needs to be built up 100%. I want to put every thing together myself, to get a better understanding on the ins and outs of the parts.

Just about any of the Trex clones like HobbyKing (HK) CopterX or Tarot will serve you well.

The came partialy assembled, but following good practice you will be disassembling the heli and applying blue LockTite to all screws that go into metal and in general checking tightness on EVERYTHING!!!

You will also want to "break" the edge of the frames edges if you get a version that has carbon fiber frame sides.

Be sure to get a swash leveling tool, pitch gauge and a GOOD set of hex drivers if you do not already own them. There are a lot of additional tools you will pick up over time, but small screwdirvers and the hex drivers are a must!

Sence your in the States you might want to concider the XHELI.com T-REX clones. I have two from AXI that I got from XHELI. They are nice kits. I did have a problem with the $ 30.00 kit were the tail assembly few apart. I replaced it with there all metal tail assembly and she been a good machine.

Putting one together is a little harder than you might think. I got stuck with the set up but Tombo242 came to my rescue and help me through that. Both my kits are good fliers. Not a great as my B400 but still well worth the money.
