Post subject: Does a better radio make for better flying? |

I have a Blade MCX heli that I really like flying but it does not fly very precise. After I trim it out I still have problems trying to land on a particular spot. It tends to toilet bowl a lot. I was woundering if I had a better raido would it fly better as well, or is the signal the same no matter what radio I use. |

It's not a signal problem, the RTF transmitter uses 2.4gHz just like the computerized transmitters. The ability to program in some negative exponential might speed up the cyclic response and give you a little more control, but it sounds to me your main problem is toilet-bowl effect.
Check out this site: http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/toilet-bowl-effect.html
Once you get that cleared up the heli should be more precise. _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

Thanks for the reply. I agree I do seem to have a lot of toilet bowl affect. I saw a mod that uses small rubber bands on the servo linkages. Havn't tried that yet, but am planning on. I was just woundering if a better raido you inhance the RC experence or is that just money wasted. |

Absolutely. Especially if you plan on progressing to more advanced helis eventually. A computerized transmitter adds a whole world of customization to the "RC experience." Great term by the way! _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

I moved from a racon 6ch transmitter (no LCD screen display, limited program-ability) to a futaba 6ch only a week ago and the transition was smooth and made things much more enjoyable. The operation is pretty much the same, but gtting everything to function correctly because I can fine-tune most details makes it all more enjoyable. _________________ E-Razor 450 + Air Hogs Pocket Copter + Radd's School of Rotary Flight = Teh Awesomness |

If you want to be able to control your mCX and any other Blade helis, you need a Spektrum. The DX6i is the most economical choice and a truly fantastic radio.
Futaba is an equally great radio company, but there's no compatibility with Blade. _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

I will vouch for the DX6i. The blade series comes equipped and setup for the spektrum series so you can use one transmitter on multiple models.
Myself, I'm a futaba fan. Previous experience with their 2 channel transmitters led me to the 6EX, but I was installing it on a model that needed a new system completely and for my purposes it works fine. Choosing a transmitter/receiver, aside from functionality/quality, the primary concern in what YOU want from it.
If you go with blade helis, go with the spektrum DX6i. It will serve you well and you can get more blade models without getting new transmitters for awhile, as long as you don't exceed the number of models allowed to be stored in the transmitters programming memory. _________________ E-Razor 450 + Air Hogs Pocket Copter + Radd's School of Rotary Flight = Teh Awesomness |
