Post subject: Double Horse 9104 battery upgrade |
|
|
Hi all. I was recently bought the Double Horse 9104 for Christmas and I love this thing already although there sure are some new learning curves I'm going through but I was wondering if there are any good battery upgrades I could use for this thing to get more flight time out of it ? Currently it's got a standard 7.4v Li-Ion battery with 1300mAh and the battery is about 70mm long x 40mm wide approx. It came with the standard charger which works great too but I definitely want to upgrade the battery. Can anyone suggest a good upgrade and if I'd need to change the charger or connection wiring too ? All help appreciated.

Calineil:
The Chinese go to allot of trouble to get the Helicopter balance well so she flies right. If you change battery sizes your just going to upset the balance. For more flight time your going to need a bigger MHA number. That means more weight and that means a balance problem. Besides if you increase the weight you need more power to get it up and keep it up. That defeats the bigger mha number.
Just get more mha 1300 batteries and increase your flight time that way.
just put in another battery and fly again. Charge one while flying one.
Food for thought.

I didn't realise model heli's used Li -ion batteries. I thought it was all lipo power these days. |

That sure is a good point too Jack. I was checking on some Li-Po ones yesterday but the size and weight for the larger mAh cells looked pretty awkward. Best I stick with the original and get a spare. It's giving me up to about 15 mins flight time all up while I'm learning so it's not doing too bad I guess patience is the key I'm finding. Lol.
Thanks for the feedback too.

I thought so too chopper54 so it kinda surprised me to see a Li-ion in this one. Oh well, something good but cheap I guess and still a great little model to start for learning. It's crashed well a few times already. Lol.
Thanks to you both too.

Fifteen minutes is great. Best I've ever done was ten minutes or less.

I think it's because I'm still in the learning stage Jack. I seem to spend most of the time bunny-hopping through hover practice. Lol. _________________ Calineil

I have to agree with pjdog. If you can get 15 minutes you dont really need an upgrade. just buy a couple of spares. With gentle hovering round the backyard i get 6 minutes from the Blade 450 3d and that leaves the lipo at approx 3.8 ready for storage or recharge. I have 7 lipo's for my three 450 size helicopters and i number them so they get equal use. |

I bought a spare battery for my 9104, but was hoping someone can lead me to a quick charger for it, or even a cigarette lighter type charger...are there such things? |

You can use a 1600mAh 2S 25C nano-tech lipo (weights 13 grams more than original) from Hobbyking USA warehouse for $ 6.18 which can quick charged with 5C
13 grams more are good for better flying forward.

You can use the HobbyKing ECO6-10 200W 10A 6S Bal/Dis/Cyc Charger
(http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/US.asp) for $ 33
which may also connected to a car cigarette lighter.
