Hi to all. I've got what seems to be a similar problem to some others I've seen where the tail motor unit seems to fail all too easily and seems to get well and truly burnt out too damned quick. I've sent an email of complaint to Shuang Ma about it as well and will have to buy another tail unit (3rd one now) but I was wondering, to replace a tail motor, would I need to make sure it's a 3 channel the same as the main heli or could I use another one that will fit even if it's not 3 channel ? From what I've seen the Esky Honey Bee CP3 looks like a very close and more reliable replacement unit at least until I can save up for a Blade or Esky full kit.

Any and all ideas, suggestions and help greatly appreciated.

Hi Neil,

As long as it fits and has very similar power characteristics, I would give it a shot. However, I am always into the less expensive option (as many members will tell you) and sometimes these need more than a little work to get them going. A lot depends on how much free time you have.

Tom.

Hi there Tom and thanks for the feedback on this too. It's kinda annoying that yes, the DH is a cheaper model and a good one in general but to have these Tail motors burning out due to cheap build is just pretty sad, so I've checked on the sizes and it seems the CP3 motor is pretty close in size and power to the DH9104 so I might just get one of those and see how it runs. If all is good I might just see if there are other bits that will fit the DH as well. Lol.

Now just two weeks into flying and loving it. Finally getting the heli up and cruising nicely (When the tail unit was working that is).

Hoping for a GREAT week ahead and will update with a pic or two once the new bits all come together.

Neil

Well, just a quick update. I've ordered today the tail motor, tail unit, motor heat-sink and main motor heat sink for the Esky CP3 to slot into my DH9104 so on Friday when it gets here it's going to be interesting fitting it all up and hopefully getting back off the ground. I've got flying withdrawals !!! Lol
Once it's all going I'll post a pic up and fingers crossed I can bring it all together for some more successful air time.

Hi did you happen to get the tail running in the 9104 mine has been a pain that way also 3rd motor on its way would be interested to hear how the esky performed as was thinking of the same thing. shame as when its running well it flys fine just that motor dies. I run mine on lipos 7.4 1300mah i wonder if its too grunty for that motor what you running yours on? cheers
