Hi C_A,

Align specify 7 Channel or more for all of their FBL 550's not sure why, it's got the same basic set up of my FBL 250 which only uses 6 channels.

Maybe they want more then 6 for gyro gain adjustment from the radio? I have not been able to figure out anything other than that. I know my buddy has everything from a 550 to a 770 and for his electrics he only used 6 channels except the CGY750 is adjustable from his Futaba radio using another channel. I have a chance to grab up a new 550 kit for cheap but don't have the funds to replace my Spektrum radio at this point.

Hi C_A,

You only need six channels for gyro adjustment from your TX normally

1 = Throttle
2 = Aileron
3 = Rudder
4 = Elevator
5 = Gear = Gyro Adjustment
6 = Aux = Pitch

How ever the 3GX system can also support a governor which requires an additional sensor and uses a channel pushing Gyro Adjustment to channel 7

I would go ahead and buy the 550 if its at the right price, because in the 3GX manual it also details how you can fly using a 5 channel Transmitter by not having the Governor or on board Gyro adjustment.

Gyro to be used is just a 3G and not a 3GX. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Hi C_A,

I doubt that it would make any difference, what does the 3G Manual say ?

I have three FBLs flying and they all only use 6 Channels even if 2 of them have 7 Ch Rx.

It's Christmas, give yourself the 550, you'll hate yourself by NY if you don't.

Merry Christmas

I have purchase 3 firearms for myself in the last 9 days so I would say using the "it's Christmas" excuse has about worn thin with my wife. A friend of mine has the heli and it's not going any where any time soon. I won't have it until sometime in January.
