Post subject: Dx6i throttle malfunction PLEASE HELP! |
|
|
Okay so I accidentally knocked my dx6i off a table and it hit the floor. The throttle stick came "off track" is the best way to describe it. I opened up the back of the transmitter and immediately saw it had slipped from under the ratchet strip. It popped right back beneath it, but now my mcpx won't spool up when I engage the throttle. I know the heli works bc if I flip the throttle hold on it spools fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it seems my throttles not responding? _________________ ARMY Infantry

Okay, I don't have the exact make and model you have, but all radio controls are similar in that the stick movements are transferred to a potentiometer. It is that round cylinders with wires that are hooked to the pc board. You probably reset the mechanical links, but see if when you move the stick, the pot turns with it. It may be as simple as placing the stem of the pot back in the control arms, sticks, recepticle. it is a metal stem so I doubt it is broken. If the pot got damaged, you can remove it and get the exact ohm value pot and replace it. See if you can find any small pieces of plastic, shake the radio, and if so, see where it may fit.
Each control stick is independent of the other and just because one works, i.e. aileron, elevator, or even the rudder that is on the throttle stick, the pot that controls the throttle may no work, but the rudder pot does.
I hope this helps. _________________ KCF |

This is a case where providing your location in your Profile helps the forum users.
If you can't find the probelm with your DX6I just call Horizon hobby and ask for help. The very worse case they will have you mail it to them and they'll fix it.
I'll bet your plastic gimble came out of the slot for the pot. So now the pot shaft is not getting any movement.
Good luck with the fix.

I now have the throttle working, but only after I flip the mix-0/th hold-1 switch from one to zero. In other words, when I power on my heli after having the dx6i on and all switches to zero, the throttle does not power up the heli. Then if I put that switch in position 1, then immediately back to zero, the throttle works. Any ideas how this has happened? _________________ ARMY Infantry

That is weird, maybe you could try a rebind. Even if it doesn't help you wont make it worse. |

I've tried rebinding. I think I'm just going to return it and get a new one because it's only a two week old remote and it's already having all sorts of problems _________________ ARMY Infantry

Without having access to a schematic, this may not be possible to pin point the problem. Are you saying by switching the tho/hold back and forth you can work the throttle stick and vary the rpm or it just spools up to a pre selected speed. That switch you mentioned is part of the throttle circuit that by passes the joy stick when turned on, gets the motor to run at a certainspeed preselected by you via progaming the radio. Not sure whats going on, but unless you can access a schematc and can follow the trail, as suggested by another, send it in to have it repaired. It is not something to take a chance with. I dont know what a new DXI radio cost so if you send it in, ask for a repair cost and then weigh the difference of new vs a repair. Sorry I could not be more of an assistance.
Re my profile, my location is Seattle, WA. as is indicated on all my posts. _________________ KCF |

Hi hmcclung,
I would return it to Horizon, they could check it out properly, you may fix the throttle problem but miss other damage that you can't see and wreck models later on. They have all the diagnostic equipment to bring your DX6i back to original specification. _________________ Keep your rotors spinning
