I am considering buying an rc helicopter. I am brand new and have not had any experience with them. What would you suggest as my first purchase with a limit of around $100. _________________ Russ A. |

I would suggest a simulator, for a total of $100 you are really looking at a non-hobby helicopter. These little ones can be fun but are really designed for the child market. The sim will give you experience in handling a helicopter without the crash expenses, AND YOU WILL CRASH, everyone does at first - some of us after a year or two! Flying on a good sim (not FMS) will teach the valuable stick movements that will stand you in good stead when you are in a position to but a hobby grade heli.
However, if the idea of a sim does not appeal then make sure you get a full 4 channel 2.4gHz RC heli. Do not be fooled by the 3.5 channels there is no such thing they are 3 channel. To make progress you will need ailerons, elevator, rudder and throttle. Look to either E-flite, Walkera or possibly E-sky. Check that your local hobby shop stocks spares for the model of your choice - you WILL need them.
Good luck and welcome to the hobby.

In case you dont fancy going for a sim and prefer a real model, i just had a look on the E-Flight website and the Mcx-2 is advertised for $119.99. Its a brilliant 4 channel coaxial starter heli and you will be hooked in no time. |

Thanks for the replies. I'll take a look at the MCS-2. Any opinions on the Double Horse 9053. Saw this on Amazon for about $65. _________________ Russ A.

That's as much as the Double Horse is worth. It's only 3 channel after all.
The MCx-2 is a 4 channel 2.4gHz full RC heli. There's no contest.
However the choice is yours - you must decide for yourself.

If your budget is $100, get the mCX and at least one extra battery.
If you can stretch it a bit, get the mCX2 which retails for $119.95 in the USA. |

Randers51, If you want a Double Horse 9053 get one, you have probably looked at videos on youtube, like the style and this size. When you are starting out it really doesn’t matter what you get as long as you are not spending a small fortune, if you intension is to fly outside the yes the 9053 is a great heli, a little too big for indoors. |
