Hi all. I am new to rc heli flying and wondered if using these instead of spheres for training gear would be a good idea for ground practice for less surface friction?
I am using a HK450. These ball casters are 120 grams each

Hi flyer_tryer,
Not really, if you add the whatever you'd fit them to they'll be way over 500g and that's too heavy. Invest in a proper training gear set, and before you attempt lift off try to get an experienced rc pilot in your locality to check over your the heli and radio set-up.

The best training gear I found in the early days was a Hula Hoop.
It's hard to see in the photo but there are aluminum cross braces that the skids were attached by Velcro or zip tied.

When I had mine I used a cheap light weight arrow shaft and 4 ping pong balls.
Cut the arrow in half and zip tie it together in the middle. Take the ping pong balls and use your solder gun to put 2 holes in it, put one on each end with a zip tie on the inside and outside of it so it will roll around a bit instead of dragging around. Zip tie to the skids and go fly..
Cost me about 4 bucks to make..
