The FS1 sim worked fine with my Spektrun DX5e until recently; then I tried to use a Walkera Xmitter with the sim-provided 5-pin to USB cable, and the computer didn't recognize it. Thereafter, FS1 hasn't recognized the DX5e.
The Spektrum adapter lights up and binds to the Xmitter, but the program &/or the computer won't respond.
I've removed and reloaded FS1; tried it on another computer, burned incense before it and spent the night with it in vigil at the local cathedral, but nothing seems to work. _________________ Certificated Helicopter Crash Tester |

Thanks for the reply.
No I haven't, though I'm giving some thought to ClearView and Phoenix. _________________ Certificated Helicopter Crash Tester |

The latest ClearView is very good. Not quite the quality you get with Pheonix but very close. You have to be good to feel the differences except in your wallet. At $40 USD there is no programme that can come near it. There are some fair free ones but they are either restricted in the model range or very poor in flight characteristics. Worth trying but get a 6 channel controller if you are not going to use your own Tx, you will not need it with the freebies, but you will need at least 6 channels to get the best from ClearView. For Phoenix you use your own Tx with their lead/dongle.
ClearView are now using a completely different parameter file to the old one and this gives very accurate control over the models. However, you do need some inside knowlege to set it up. I know I produce the odd free model for the ClearView sim. (See them here at the bottom of the page.) _________________ Keep Smiling |

There are eight channel controllers on the market. Usually only $10 more than the six but well worth the money. I have one I've almost worn out. I've given it hell for 8 hours at a time, many times.
You get undercarriage raise and lower. Idle up for helis, Throttle hold, and other things which make life interesting. One of my sims (I can't remember which) fires off missiles if you fly a certain heli. Sure better than trying to remember which key on the keyboard does the job.
By the way, when you get the chance, have a look at Phoenix's crash effects. Holy mackeral, if you pile a plane into the deck it completely explodes into tiny pieces. Some pieces, especially wheels fly off and travel 20 feet from the wreck. Quite spectacular. It's almost worth a smash up just to see the mess. Try to get a big Pitt's special to land a few yards away from you nose first. Hit the camera button jst as she hits. It's worth seeing. Great fun.
Please note, I do not condone violence in any form........ except flight sims
