Post subject: hbk 3 blade tracking problem ! please help :( |
|
|
Ok im pretty new to flying helicopters and setting them up but I thought I had it covered till the other day when I crashed it onto the road and now I can't get the blades to track !
Before I crashed it I just put the metal upgrade kit head etc and tracked it so the blades where running good then flew it.
Now after I crashed it I replaces the feathering shaft which was bent and replaced the blades cos the had chunks out of them but when i start the blades turning at low rpm I can track them fine and get them to spin the same but soon as I apply enough rpm to start it getting light on the ground it starts making a sound like a blade is really out of tracking and if I look along the blades while its going they are way out of tracking and i can't seem to make them track properly !
Im wondering if it is the o-rings you get with the metal upgrade kit that hold the feathering shafts straight or wether its something else I can't see ?
All the other parts seem to be fine I cant find anything bent or broken and because its only when I apply more throttle it starts doing it im thinking its an adjustment or something somewhere ?
Thanks in advance for any input as im going crazy here trying to work it out and being in country australia there is no hobby shops near me at all to help me with the problem ! |

Hi Surgion,
You Auzzies certainly come up with interesting problems. You say that it tracks at low rpm, but not at hover rpm. It sounds to me that one of your blades is twisting in the holder. Could be that at zero or -ve incidence it's fine but as the incidence goes +ve with increased rpm the blade moves in the holder (or the holder itself moves, could be slack in the linkage) and the incidence increases more than on the opposite blade, throwing out the tracking. Is there any movement if you gently twist the blade ends to mimic the pressure of increased incidence?
Keep us posted, there's always a solution somewhere. "She'll be right!" _________________ Keep Smiling |

I had a look at the blades twisted them as u said an I did notice a bit of movement in them so I had a closer look at all the parts that moved and found a broken screw where the shaft for the paddle screws into the centre hub ! after alot of stuffing around I managed to get the screw out an replace it now after a quick tracking tune it flys like a new one
Thanks heaps for the advice it pointed me in the right direction and now im not pulling my hair out and my g/f is allowed to talk to me again haha !
I'll post a pic to show anyone else who might have this problem !
thanks again
where the screw driver is pointing was the screw |
