Post subject: Help with bad ebay buy skyking 8501 |
|
|
Maybe SkyKing51 can help me out here....
Hi all. I bought this helicopter off ebay from seller Mambate for my husband for Christmas. He wants to get involved in hobby RC.
I thought I was doing good, a nice big helicopter reasonable price. I paid 98.99 the next day the seller upped the price to 298.99. Although I didn't expect it to last past the first few flights.
Unfortunately it didn't take its first flight.
He opened it Christmas morning let is charge until the charging light was green. Put fresh batteries in the controller, turned the switch to on 9 (on the helicopter) and the blinky LED lights came on but nothing else. Its dead nothing spins, no noise only the lights.
I emailed the seller who told me they refund me 10.00 to take it to a toy store to have it repaired. I replied that there are no toy stores in my town or anywhere close who repair these things. They offered me 20.00 now to get it repaired and are not willing to refund my money or replace the broken helicopter. Another buyer bought one the same day I did and theirs is dead also.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem with this thing is. I managed to give the hubby the worst gift ever one that doesn't even work!
We tried another set of batteries in the controller. Made sure the throttle is all he way down. Tried to engage it by moving throttle up and to the right then down and to the right. I am out of ideas. And out of 100.00 bucks I guess. Any ideas you all could give me would be great thanks in advance! |

Hi Chrisarr,
You don't say what heli this is but I'm guessing the Sky King by the price and what you say. I don't have this heli but these are general faults with them that I've read about.
1. The power adapter can blow when plugged into the domestic supply. Battery will never charge.
2. The transmitter is not turned on before the helicopter.
3. A battery fitted the wrong way up in the transmitter, or (and I've had this on a Tx) part of a battery -ve end covering gets between the battery and contact. No volts to the Tx.
4. A poor battery in the helicopter. It should be reading 12.2V to 12.6V when fully charged and never allowed to drop below 9.3V.
5. The aerial (antenna) fallen off the Rx inside the heli or disconected inside the Tx.
6. Power cable dry-jointed on the control unit.
If you have the Chinese manual then it is a good idea to take it along to a Chinese takeaway or laundry and get them to translate it for you. It usually gives them a good laugh but normally they are helpful and supply very useful information.
Keep in touch I'm sure that one of us will get it going when we know more about the heli and the problem.

Another option is to go through the start up process with someone at a hobby shop nearby. They might find the cause of your problem. Does this model require you to bind to the transmitter? If so, you may need to rebind. _________________ E-Razor 450 + Air Hogs Pocket Copter + Radd's School of Rotary Flight = Teh Awesomness |

hello there
what seller did you get your skyking from ?
because you have to be careful what seller you order from.
I got mine from the seller cwtco and have not had any problems with my skyking helicopter.
but yeah it sounds like the high speed motors is disconnected
and what tombo242 had said is possiable.
Another thing
You have move throttle level; all the up and all the way down to activeate
it and make sure the it plug in to the copter secure. _________________ WALKERA 180d Dragonfly

-I purchased it from the seller mambate. Huge mistake....I do not recommend them.
I had the hubby take it apart. Everything looks good the motors are connected, the antenna is connected solidly to the board. All wires look like they are running to the right place. We don't have a tester for that small of a battery, ousr is for car batteries, so we will have to pick one up.
I am thinking we might have a transmitter problem. There are five LED lights on the transmitter, under it it says LED Voltage indicator. Only four of them will light up. The very first time he turned it on, the first red one lit up then it went out. We have tried 3 sets of batteries and the first red one will not light up. Any ideas on that?
Are there some kind of crystals in these transmitters? |

the instructions says to move the throttle level all the up as far as it goes
and all the way down , it activates the copter.

Nope no cheap batteries tried Duracells- I also tried moving the throttle up then down and nothing. I did notice that when I wiggled the power button on the transmitter around it turned red, although nothing happened when I tried to control the copter... |

ou can contact EBay and complain that the seller sent you a dud. If you paid with PayPal you can file a complaint with them. (PayPal is also EBay).
I think that will get you moeny back. Negative feed back will kill a EBay seller.
Food for thought.
Jack.
PS: Go to a hobby shop or Horizon Hobby.com on the net and get a Blade helicopter. |

I always read the reveaws about the seller
and so far cwtco is the good seller.
but to start off in this hobby you can get a Blade CX or a walkera
4 channels is a good start. _________________ WALKERA 180d Dragonfly

4 channel is a good starting point. It gives you an idea of what a real r/c hobby grade helicopter can do, how it handles and prepares you to move up into the higher tiers of the hobby when you feel ready. _________________ E-Razor 450 + Air Hogs Pocket Copter + Radd's School of Rotary Flight = Teh Awesomness |

I saw a mall copter station the other day. Salesman tried to approach me...I just started laughing and walked away before he could say anything to me. _________________ E-Razor 450 + Air Hogs Pocket Copter + Radd's School of Rotary Flight = Teh Awesomness |
