My radio has knobs that alter the curve of pitch and throttle additionally to the curves you set-up in menu.

I assume they are for fine tuning the pitch and throttle for hovering etc.

My normal heli radio doesn't have these and you work only with the curves set via menu.

the radio with these knobs also flies my fixed wing gear. One of these knobs I use for my flaps. Full anti-clockwise is flaps 0 ... full clockwise is flaps fully deployed.

Now my question is ... how to set-up the knobs on a heli ... do you have them at mid point so you can adjust either way when flying ? Or do you have full anticlockwise when setting the menu curves ? Does anyone use them ?

Why do I ask ? If I set at mid-point when doing the curves ... it means when I swap heli / fixed wing - the knob will be wrong. Not so bad on the fixed wing because I will see the flaps deploy, but on the heli - you won't see anything until you fly !

Advise please ?

Hi solentlife,

Can't you set your radio (Tx) for different models? Then you shouldn't have to worry about flying the heli with fixed wing settings and vice versa. If not, you must be very careful because you'll be flying "accidents waiting to happen". Rolling Eyes

Having the knobs at mid point for heli use, would be the preferred setting in my opinion.

What make of radio are you talking about?

The radio is a FlySky 9X with FrSky module - but that makes no difference to other radios have similar ... rotary knobs on top / front for adjusting Pitch / Throttle etc. They are not digital and will not be specific to a model memory.
You can activate or disable in memory ... but position of knob is mechanical .......

Imagine ... Left front knob is flaps on the Cessna. Full A/clockwise is 0 position. I swap to Heli ... now that knob is Pitch trim for the heli .... altering the curve.

At moment I have Hov Thrott and Hov Pitch knobs centred when setting curves - they only affect mid point for hovering but not overall.
I've disabled the Pitch Trim knob that does Flaps on my fixed wing ... so heli will be unaffected ....... BUT I lose the pitch trim function.

I have to admit that I have set-up the knob for flaps instead of the 3 position switch. The 3 position switch is not my ideal flap control and needs additional settings.
