That's allot cheaper than a new corvette. ( $ 62,000.00)
That's allot cheaper than a new Mustang Gt ($ 39,000.00)
That's allot cheaper than a new Harley-Davidson DWGFX ( $ 25,000.00)
That's allot cheaper than smoking ( $ 60.00 a carton for the rest of your life)
Every time my wifes gets on me about my RC toys I just say. ' I don't smoke'. She does.

Actually,...I like your style there PJ, I'm gonna use one of those each time SHE says something! Ever watch Bill Cosby stand up when he talks about him feeding his kids chocolate cake for breakfast?? "And then...SHE ...came down the stairs!"...................... |

Hey Trouble,
I have never had any hobby that did not cost money,Shooting, Golf, Cars, Fishing, Dogs, Tropical fish, if you find something you love doing you have to pay for it.
On top of my Helicopters it costs me a new hand bag ever time I get a new helicopter, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
I've added a line to your Calculation
GRAND TOTAL: Around $1800.00
Align Trex 450S GF: $160.00
DX6i w/receiver: $270.00
3x HS65HB: $75.00
1x JR 287MG $75.00
Batt. and spares $100.00
__________
Grand total $680 .00

Our RC toys are allot cheaper than hanging out in Bars. Booze cost allot and it will kill you Liver. Besides she always knows were I am.
1. Flying in backyard
2. Surfing for parts on computer
3. Asking questions on SKYPE on computer
I'm always within 50 yards no matter what.
Jack
OOOps ! Miss Sharon pointed out just now that I do ride a Harley on Fridays. Generally to the Hobby Shop in Gulf Port Mississippi. |

...and after those snappy spousal comebacks, PJ, where are you sleeping these nights?
(If it were me, I'd be trying to fit myself into the Sheltie's dog bed!)
Speaking of marital bliss, the spouse went off to the LA County Fair with her BFFs and brought me back 2 new helis - one IR 3-ch coax Chinook (4, count 'em, 4 little rotors), and a 3-ch 72 mHz coax 'Airwolf'. Both nice little indoor critters, but I'd have found better uses for the money. Now I have to fly them every so often to show my appreciation, at least until something breaks! Better than a couple of new ties, anyway...

Hey guys!
Don't get me wrong, was just tryin' to make a discussion.
Not really complaining 'bout the money I spent, if for no other reason I have learned alot from it! If I had got a heli that took off perfect the 1st time and always flew right I would know nothing about repairing, taking it all apart to the very last screw... believe me, I can take a T-rex 450 or clone to it apart to the last screw,...AND put it together right, I'll bet money that I can do it blindfolded ! But..I can't even hover for 1 second... The Trex has done the best so far, but there is something I am missing, dunno what it is, obviously in the set-up, prolly something a knowledgeable guy could figure out in one minute if he had it in his hands...
Marital probs with the heli...none, except..."with all this money you have spent why are you not flying????"....."uuuhhh, cuz i'm a big dummy and don't know what the **** i'm doing?..now leave me be woman, I have to level the swash for the 1 millionth time!!!" but, im having fun....

Trouble:
Not long ago Miss Sharon asked why I did RC helicopters. She said all you do is get mad. So in order to keep up the image I smiled all the time I was making adjustments and messing with the helicopters.
She's right of course. It's suposed to be fun. You get satisfaction from the hobby. Once you make that first full flight with the Helicopter you get that special feeling that says ' I did it'. I win, the helicopter in mine. I felt the same way when I made my first solo with the RC plane.
I also like to put things together. Helicopters are not that easy and require some knowledge. SET UP - real important. I like the hunt to get parts. Parts what do correctly. Putting them all together and making everything work. Now If you can fly it that's even better. Just hang in there. It's coming. It's like a light switch. All at once it will happen and you'll have it.

Hey, Trouble, you just need to find that old "Hover Button"! (I'm still looking, myself. Maybe there's one on the DX8...)

Hey Trouble
I agree it beautiful, so much so I don't want one, would break my heart to destroy something so fine. I will leave it to the people with the ability and I'll just keep having fun with my helicopters.
But the way your advancing I would not be surprised to see you post videos in the future of your Three Dee Rigid. |
