Hi Carol,
Have you got the correct blades on the shafts? It is easy to put the "A" blades on the "B" shaft and vice versa. When the blades rotate the higher part (leading edge) should lead the rest of the blade.
Can you check and get back to us? _________________ Keep Smiling |

Hi carol berry,
Make sure that you have tightened the screws on the Gear Collar part number 37 in the exploded view in the Lama Instructions, if they are not tight enough it will spin the top rotors but the gear will slip under load, they copter reacts like it has got a flat battery, it will not lift and the copter rotates to the left. _________________ Keep your rotors spinning

Hi, thanks for the e-mail. Yes I have checked the blads and B blades are on the bottom and A blades are on the top. I might try taking it apart again. Lovely! Any feed back is welcome _________________ blueberry |

Hi Carol,
You do not say that the heli rotates when you try to lift, if it does then Admiral is absolutely right.
If there is no slip in the drive then try this. When your blades rotate, are they going in the right direction? If you have disconnected the motor leads it is very easy to put them back on the wrong sockets. I did this myself when replacing a Protech 3-in-1 + Rx with an E-sky 4-in-1. Quite an eyeopener when I powered it up. Definately no climb.
The other possibility is the battery. With age and improper storage the internal resistance rises and the battery cannot deliver the power required to lift the heli. It will show full charge and voltage, but will not live up to its "C" rating in use.
Keep us posted on progress - we will get it licked. _________________ Keep Smiling |

Hey thanks for the reply. Batteries and new and fully charged. I have a brand new one in the box still. I have compaired lama's to make sure that my work was properly done. The Lama lifted off the ground the first attempt after I fixed it. I set it down. Went to lift again, that's when it had no lift. I'll rebuild it today. thanks for the great tips. _________________ blueberry |

I forgot to tell you that the lama doesn't spin. Powers on just great. Just does't want to take lift. _________________ blueberry |

Hi Carol,
If the rotor speed is O.K. then all that is left is the blade pitch. Some blades seem to loose their pitch settings. You could try increasing the pitch by a little gentle bending by hand. No guarentees but What else can it be? You say the spin up is normal and everything is as it should be. Well if the blades are spinning correctly but not lifting, it has to be the pitch. _________________ Keep Smiling |

I have discovered that the mixer speed gyro control turns red when the trottle is all the up. It is a mechanical problem either with the shaft or the swasplate set. I'm going to that that all apart, get a good look. Wish me luck. Thanks for the imput. The blades are all new. I know somebody out there has had the same problem before? Never think your the only one! Ha.... _________________ blueberry |

Hi Carol,
I think that you might find that the red light comes on with a low battery voltage. Shutting back on the throttle will turn it back green. This is when the battery internal resistance rises with age and use and is accelerated if the batteries are not stored at the correct voltage between flight days.
What happens is that the effective C rating is reduced due to the increased internal resistance and the required current cannot be given.
For example:- I have a battery that will not supply enough power to lift my indoor heli (10C req, red light comes on) but powers my RC sail boat (2C req) with no problems at all. _________________ Keep Smiling |

Ok about the red light. Thanks. I worked on the lama and seems to go up now but I have a bad tail spin now. Remember when I said it might be the shaft? When I took it apart, the center hub set that holds the rig link push rods in to the b blades had come loose from the shaft. Fixed that put the heli back together. Tested it, and the heli is spinning left realy bad. Got any sugestions about this? One day I will get to fly it!! _________________ blueberry |

Hi Carol,
Check the screws that lock the gearwheel to the inner shaft, there should be no slack when you turn the top blades back and forth. Often these screws are not set properly in their flats on the shaft. As the top blades turn the heli to the right, that is where you are losing power and getting the left spin.
The other possibility is the top rotor head loose on the shaft, but that is very rare. _________________ Keep Smiling |
