Post subject: M2 grub screws |
|
|
Just got the T-34 fitted with two new motors and receiver - managed to bash it, and both grub screws holding the B shaft sheared. Strewth, they're small.
Anybody tried these:
2MM X 6MM STAINLESS STEEL POZI PAN M2 SCREWS A2 20 PACK
from tbwfasteners on eBay? Cheap.
The four screws holding the rotor head to the shaft are about 5mm long, and would seem to do the job when tested, so 6mm ought to be OK. Or does anybody know what the precise length should be?

In a lot of cases - to keep the screw within the radius of the item, second to not cause inbaance of weight.
Where possible I change to Black metal machine screws with a larger head. But these cannot be used in critical length / weight areas such as shaft collets etc.
Many of the stock grub screws supplied are soft and when tightening care has to be taken ... I have loads of them where the hex driver slips in the slot. _________________ If you don't crash - you ain't flying !

The fun will be judicious grinding to length. Oil stone? _________________ Never squat with your spurs on. |

Make sure that you have a nut on the shaft before you cut/grind it to length. As you wind the nut off it will clear any burrs on the cut thread giving a better start to the screw.
