Does anyone know where I can download a madhawk 300 for clearview? I have ordered a new one and would like to get in some pratice. I don't know if it will handle the same as a co dophin or not so I need plenty of pratice before I try to fly it!

BillyFra56:

If I'm wrong I'm sure one of the pro's step in but I think most all the Co-axial fly the same. One set of blades off sets the other. So I can't see how they would be much different. ClearView has several co-axial. The RB Lama is one. The Blade CX is another.

Good luck.

Hi Billyfrea,

As you must know the Madhawk 300 is a single rotor heli. (Sorry Pjdog.) If you ignore the Walkera 3D capability it will be much the same as my Walkera 4G6 here scroll to bottom of page. Just stay in "Normal" and it will be fine.

I downloaded the Walkera heli. I am using an esky dophin controller. It doesn't have a mode switch on it. I cant get it set up wright. It seems to wont to go to the right and backwards instead of hovering. More than likely it's me. Not really sure what to do! When i set up the controller it keeps coming up a little short on the rudder. If what i have seen of this heli i have a lot to learn, it controls totally different from a co axial heli.

You're right there Billyfra, the single rotors are very different from the co-axials. It is a big jump.

Problem here is that I never think of less than 6 channels for a single rotor heli. However, if your controller is set up for Keyboard + 4 channels there should not be too much of a problem.

I use this setup for 4 channel testing.

Hope this helps some.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. My heli will be in Monday. It has a hookup for a computer. I will work on that for a while before I try to fly it. But I am still going to pratice on the clearview. I like it.

Although flight sims are good for basic learning they can't actually simulate the exact operation of a specific heli. They can be close but in real life there are so many considerations to take into account. The state of all the batteries, the wear on the motor and other heli parts. The environement such as the temperature and definitely breeze and gusts of wind. Plus the nerve factor. It can be very daunting trying out a new heli for the first time for real. You're worried about smashing all that hard earned money into the dirt or brick wall where a sim is devoid of any worry. If you smash it you just reset and away you go.

Sims can give you a definite feel for different types of heli as your friend said. Coaxial to single bladed is a major step. But I've had the same model heli fly like a bird on one sim and like a dog on a different sim. Also don't forget that before you get the model you want there could have been a hundred people fiddling around with it's parameters and it will fly nothing like the real thing. So finding a heli with a similar build, motor and blade setup will usually give enough insight to how yours will handle. Just don't outright take you sim model as gospel.

It's even an idea to measure the distance between the skids and compare them with the sim. Just half an inch difference could topple your heli on take off. When I first started my first real life heli I tended to jump straight up off the ground to stop it toppling. Nothing worse than wrecking a set of blades without even getting it off the ground.

I always recommend a crash kit too. I know they look sissy but it's you're money you're protecting and the kit can save a lot of heartache until you get used to the handling. Plus don't forget to spend a bit of time trimming up before a maiden flight.

Bluedog.
