I have flown my blade scout cx for about 20 flights since I got it last Wednesday evening and wondering if there is any maintenance I should be thinking about doing on it so it keeps performing like new. I usually fly it until the red led in the canopy flashes then charge the flight battery. Still flies great, just want to keep it flying like new!

Co-axials have very low headspeeds and therefore very little wear and tear. In another 50 flights or so you might consider using a tiny bit of oil/lube on the moving parts, but that's probably not even necessary.

If the Scout is like Blade's other micros, that blinking light when the battery gets low is the Low-Voltage Cutoff warning. If I recall correctly, the warning starts when the battery gets down to 3.0V, which is the lowest you want to go with a LiPo without damaging it.

If you're worried about damaging the battery, you might want to stop flying a little bit before the light starts flashing.

sounds good to me. I found a timer that works on my android phone... maybe i should set it for 5 minutes then instead of 6 since the led flashes at a few seconds after 6 minutes. wonder if the hobby shop has the oil for them or not. I will probably be going there next week to get a few more flight batteries so if they have some oil ill get it then too. maybe even bring home another heli...

It would be a good idea to stick with five minute flights. If you over discharge a lipo it is finished and will never charge again. Good idea to get extra batteries asap.

Looks like the flights will be limited to 5 minutes then. Learned something new today about these batteries

I purchased a needle oil applicator at my hobby shop. It comes in a clear platic tube with squeezable sides and has a cap that covers a thin metal tube used for precision oiling. I believe it's just 3-in-1 oil on the inside, but the application is very easy and precise and the only way I could over-dose on oil is if I just squeezed very hard. I suggest asking for such an oil applicator, I plan to refil mine and use it as long as I can.

You may also consider e-mailing horizon hobby to see what they recommend as far as factory maintenance. There might be some trick or thing they know that we don't.

I like the Blade 120. I have two. A good intro to the world of single rotor.

The 120SR will be more of a challenge than the scout but its not really difficult. Give yourself a bit of extra space till you get the hang of it. Its 4 channel so the controls might take a bit of getting used to but its quite stable and a lot of fun. I fly mine around indoors when the weather is too bad to fly my 450 birds outside. It might be best to fly it outside to start with as the rotors do scratch things they hit even though they are only plastic. It can fly in a gentle breeze but will struggle in a decent wind.
Dont forget extra batteries because once you start flying around you wont want to put this heli down.

I probably would be flying it outside since I don't have much room in the basement to fly it. Unless I go in my garage to fly

A garage would be good. No precious ornaments and no wind.
