Hi Tom.
I don.t like the blades with the weights on them, the main reason is it doesn't
take much of a blade strike to screw up the weights & then you are done flying.
The standard blades can take one hell of a beating & still keep on flying.
I am no guru with these birds but am having a good time learning.
I don't think i will be flying much out side for a couple of months.
We are having a bit of a blow at the moment, wind/rain/ snow etc.
A good night to down as few bevy's.

I just noticed where your from. I bet it is cold up there. I feel bad whinning about how bad the weather is here and it's gonna be in the upper 60's tomorrow and next week. I used the regular blades to try and do a little hover here in the house. I must say it is a very stable helicopter. I set the paramaters up like the ones on another thread here in the forum. Maybe tomorrow. I couldn't figure out how to set the servo themway he did.

If you're giving sudden, dramatic pitch changes the "High-Performance" blades are a must. But if you're just hovering, I do think the added weight of the "Fast Forward Flight" blades add an extra layer of stability. _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

I'm gonna put the weighted blades on. I am thinking that a D/R Expo setting of 50% and 30%. Would that mello it out some? Make it a little more docile and easier to handle indoors in smaller spaces?
Tom
I've added the weighted blades but I have another question about the amount of negative pitch that is preset from the factory. The link posted about MCPX setup says to turn the links two full turns counter clockwise to remove some of it. Good or bad idea?

Yeah that sounds fine, take it as low as you need and increase it a little at a time as you start to feel more comfortable.
Remember that expo is, well, exponential, for lack of a better word. That is, the lower you go with the dual-rate, the greater the effect expo is going to have. _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

The 50 / 30 setting on D/R Expo worked out fine. I still think I need to get rid of some of the negative pitch. It sets down rather quickly when you close the throttle. Besides, I'm not wanting to do tricks, just learning to hover at this point. So if I lower the dual rate I need to raise the expo?

No, if anything you would lower the expo as you lower the dual-rate so the stick isn't so desensitized that the heli is uncontrollable. Also, you might like a different amount of D-R/expo on the rudder than you do on the aileron/elevator; probably less. It's all personal preference, whatever works for you is the right answer.
To reduce negative pitch, go to the pitch curve menu and change it to something like this:
40 - 45 - 50 - 75 - 100
Or you could even eliminate it with a curve like this:
50 - 50 - 50 - 75 - 100
I actually recommend a little negative pitch though, for faster and more precise descent control. _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

Thanks Nick. Haven't been able to try out the new settingsmyet but I do have another question. The servos make noise even when I have the power all the way down. Like they are trying to do something.

That's the flybarless 3-axis gyro working to keep the heli steady, you'll notice if you pick it up and move it around they get louder.
The reason you don't hear that on that mSR X is because the gyro doesn't start working until throttle is applied. _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar
