Post subject: mCPx alloy upgrades that are worth doing |
|
|
Hey guys. Been out of the heli game for a while but i just got an mCPx with a DX6i and its a ton of fun. Still working on getting my Venom 400 size heli going, but thats a different story. Im wondering about aluminum upgrades for the mCPx. I dont like aluminum, except where its needed (learned that from my cras). Im definately going to get a CNC swash, unless you guys tell me its a bad idea (ive already broken two, and the bearings keep coming out after a while). Also thinking about a head and blade grips, but im worried that that might be too much. I liked the Xtreme blade grips because they look like they have a screw that will keep the pitch rods from coming completely off in a crash. Like they will stay attached to the grips even if they pop off the swash, which im fine with. Im just tired of losing them. I want to get a stronger head because if i upgrade the grips, then that will be more strain on the stock plastic head. Will all this be too much? |

Hi LeMieux,
I think the CNC swash is a worth while upgrade, I have also broken two swashes on mine, I haven't fitted the CNC one yet, waiting for the existing one to break. I have seen an mCP X with every bit of CNC bling on it you can buy and apparently it is very sluggish to fly. ZEEJAYS in Brisbane fitted all the CNC parts so that they can show people what they look like fitted, but they don't recommend that their customers go that far. |

Ok thanks. Ill stick with just the swash for now.
As far as the tail washing out, im thinking about making a longer tail boom, but i am afraid it will reduce the yaw rate. Is this true? Or will it not make that big of a difference in the yaw rate? |

I have the MicroHeli alum swash, upper head & blade grip upgrades. For sure the swash is a big improvement. The upper head is nice in that the links are captive in it. Links may pop off in a crash, but they don't get lost.
Honestly, since I got the Blade 130X, my MCPX hasn't been out that often. 130 is Sooo much nicer to fly |

Thanks. Yeah i ended up with the Xtreme swash (same weight as the stock plastic one) and the Blade extended tail boom. Also threw on a set of KBDD skids in white, just for fun. It actually looks really nice with the white skids. The extended tail boom is very nice, too. The tail holds much better. |
