Hi,
Just got myself a Ninja 400 6Ch, tried to fly it out in the field and it basically fell over before I could get lift off, now the main rotors fail to spin.
The red light on the receiver stays on and does not go green could this be the problem? any ideas how I fix it?

Thanks Nick

It's unusual that a crash would cause a receiver to unbind, but I suppose it's possible.

On page 8 of the manual, follow the instructions regarding "code pairing." You just need to turn the transmitter and receiver on and hold down a small button on the receiver for a few seconds.

http://www.skyartec.net/UploadFiles/Instruction%20manual/PDF/Helicopter/NINJA400_manual.pdf

Let me know if that does or doesn't work.

Hi,

Just tried that and it makes no difference, should the red light on the receiver change to green?
When I push the switch on the left up the tail rotor starts spinning just not the main rotors

Thanks Nick

OK, if the tail rotors are responding it is not a transmitter/receiver issue.

It sounds to me like you stripped the main gear or motor pinion. Or maybe the set-screw came out of the main gear and it's just slipping around the main shaft?

Take a close look at the motor pinion and main gear, can you tell if anything looks/feels wrong? Provide pics if it's convenient.

Everything looks ok could it be that the screw in the centre of the photo has worked loose?

It looks like the shaft has slid up. The shaft should only be able to spin, not move up and down. It's possible that the collar/screw you mentioned was forced up in the crash.

Take another pic or just look lower, at the main gear and motor pinion, does anything look out of place?

It all looks fine, if I fiddle with the trim switches the rotors will start to turn but very slow and applying the throttle makes no difference although the tail rotor does accelerate

It looks like it has a tail drive belt so if the tail rotors spin but not the main could the jesus bolt have snapped. There might be enough friction to turn the main blades but no real grip without the bolt.

Hey there Blondini, all the guys are correct in what they are saying. Your heli is getting power to the tail rotor ,your main is not ,therefore ,jesus bolt is more than likely the problem.I'm not sure exactly how your system works but it could also be the one way bearing[again, not certain of this but it's a possibility]On the question of the tx\rx binding issue, usually ,if the light in the rx is solid red and not flashing it's ok they're bound.Looking at your pic the main shaft shouldn't be visible below the bearing collar.Something has caused it to lift out of position.I really do think it's a missing or broken jesus bolt however , not being able to see it up close it's going to up to you to fix.Have fun ,regards Dave.

That is the correct name. It is so called because it sacrifices itself in order to save other parts. Most 6 channel helis have two, one to hold the head on and one to hold the maingear drive.

From what I can find out your heli only has one at the very bottom of the mainshaft holding the gearwheel. This one is almost certainly sheared. They are usually an M2x12 bolt and an M2 nut, but do vary sometimes. (M2 means a 2mm diameter metric thread.) You may be able to get a packet of them at your local hobby shop. If you still have the pieces take them along as a sample.

Tom.

Well my allen key set runs from 0.7mm to 3.0mm in 7 stages. At that point my garage tools can take over.

Finally getting round to trying to fix it, but have noticed that the main rotors are all floppy, found a screw had come out but cant get it back in cos it doesnt have a head, is it safe to up-pop the bar being pointed out in in the photo?
