I have not ventured outdoors for over six weeks with a 450 which is my biggest size heli. Too windy or wet for my skills here in east anglia.
Still had fun indoors with the two Blade 120 SR i have. The batteries for my 450s are all at storage level waiting for a nice day.

I went to the baseball diamond today with the local boys and flew control line planes. They don't seem to mind the wind all that much. We are also below the tree line which blocks most the wind.

We are packing for our up coming move to Florida. So all my stuff in packed. So I'm the designated starter and I launch the planes. It's a sticky job. But smells nice. Love the smell of burnt Nitro.

The smell of burnt glow fuel ..... happy memories ...

Flying at sites I used in 80's .... Glow IC engines were norm ... even 4 strokers were new kids on the block and looked at with mistrust. I only remember 1 electric model on site and that was a very poor machine ... converted glider with NiCD powered brushed motor.

The aroma of glow fuel exhaust was everywhere ! The car would smell of it on way home ... the model den would smell of it when you got models home ... I loved it !!

I find it still strange today ... to go flying without all the gear I used to have ... to install a battery .. switch on and GO ! No needle valves to adjust, no smelly oily hands from fueling ... no goop to wipe of model at end of day !!

I can't give up the nitro.. I love the smell, the noise and all the mess that goes with it.
I have been flying the heck out of my 600's, we have been having a really nice and mild winter so far, so I am still burning thru a gallon a weekend.
In fact I am excited to announce I did my first Piro flips last weekend.. I've been working on the sim for some time and doing them very slow at the field just to get the machanics down. But I managed to pull off 5 in a row last saturday and keep the heli in the same spot. What a rush.. Maybe next year I will treat myself to a 700E or a Fusion 600E, it would be nice to have an electric of the same size as my nitro's..

I know it's not a Trex ... but having my big biplane with gasoline engine fired up had the heart beating faster and a smile on my face !

Sad that she piled in ... thoughts of getting another biggie with gasoline engine flits across my mind at times !
