i mistakenly bought a king 2 as my first heli.

the question. is there any way to slow down the response of controls until i learn to fly?

and does esky use standard kinds of servos ie: can i use a transmitter of a different manufacture with this bird?

Hi Oldbeeman,

Well we all make mistakes. You may find a "calmer setup" answer on this site (I found it through another forum member but cannot remember who!)

Regarding the TX, any with the same (or more) channels, and on the same frequency (and crystal if 27 or 35 Mhz) as your RX should work. It's the TX/RX that has to match not the servos.

Apart from that I would recommend a simulator and keep praticing until you can fly the closest heli to yours without crashing. Then start flying for real. You will save a small fortune in lack of repairs by crashing on the sim first.

I would also recommend a simulator. I am a newbie as well. I got my bird the end of january and can now hover with no problems. In fact I did my first rolls and flips the other day. I did end up crashing but it was worth it. I have spent endless hrs on the simulator. If I added up all the parts I would have replaced in all my simulator crashes I would have probably given up by now. Ok back on topic, If you get a spektrum or similar radio you can add exponential which will calm the cyclic controls down at midstick. I learned to hover my king with stock tx but think it would have been easier had I used a tx with expo. I would recommend trying to stick to hovering while on the sim. It is easy to want to fly around and such but you need to learn to keep control of the bird tail in before any real flight can happen without mishap. I know there are some very nice simulators out there but I love my clearview for $40. Works well with my stock tx and softdog cable. Good luck!!
