I know they somewhat do similar function, i.e. make the copter more stable as acting like a gyro. But, I've also read that paddles assist the servo by giving a directional lift when input is given. So, on a single blade FP copter like CB180D, which makes the copter more user friendly. Pros and cons for both please. _________________ KCF |

I would imagine paddles take less energy/power to turn since they "cut" through the air aerodynamically, but besides that I have no idea.
The only fly-barred helis I have with weights instead of paddles are the Blade CX3 and mCX2, both of which are also the only helis I have with over-slung flybars. Perhaps there's a correlation there? _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

The weights act solely as a gyro and is usually used only on the top rotor of a co-axial.
Paddles are actually flown but control the rotor blades with the gyro action of their mass. Often this mass is increased to aid stabilisation for first timers.

Briefly.
The flybar weights give stability to the helicopter by creating a greater gyroscopic effect.
The airfoil paddles help controls the cyclic movement of the helicopter, as well as acting to stabilize the spinning main rotors.
Some sources say : the paddels aid in pitching the main rotor blades for smoother responses and less servo stress (This support...magyarbacsi for the above mention).
