Gee, admin, were you eavesdropping the other day?
Me and the owner of the local hobby place were just having this exact discussion. He wishes the manufacturers would clarify what RTF really means. Your article is a slam dunk, and should be a "read this before you do anything" piece. |

RTF means Ready To Fix - nothing to do with flight at all!
They all need a real good professional set-up.

That's why most of us finish up building our craft. You know it from back to front and inside out and any problems are all yours. Even the 'prebuilt' heads & tails have to be stripped lubed & loctited. The rule is prepare it like you were going to fly in it and check for quirks close to the ground. After that keep at least 2 mistakes high.
