Anyone familiar with the sky king 8500? Git it to lift off ground once and main sjaft gear is stripped. Won't lift off ground lower blade not spiining fast enough to produce enough lift. Notice some had a post on the 1st stating same problem, is this an manufacturer defect and how is it fixed other than replacing shaft and gear

If the main shaft gear is stripped, then the the only thing you can do is replace it. You could try making one - but I think it would be simpler to just buy one.

Tom.

I thought that price was too good to be true, thanks for letting me know that it would be a money pit! Hope you can find replacement parts that will keep you flying.

Hello, I read your post and your concern about your sky king being a money pit.. If you are looking for a good coax or FP heli you should look into a Eflite Blade cx2 or cx3 and a 120sr... Parts are readily available at most any hobby shop that carries rc helis as well as most internet sites. They are super easy to fix, said parts are rather inexpensive and they are pretty durable.. I've crashed my 120 sr and my cx2 numerous times and i've had to replace main blades and a tail unit on the 120sr and thats it. Oh, and landing skids.. The most expensive part was the tail unit with motor for the 120sr and that was only $16.

Food for thought..
