Hi I purchased a SKY KING 8501 RC helicopter about a month ago from Dinodirect.com I never actually flew the helicopter but turned on the power and throttled up enough to spin the blades. I plugged it in to fully charge the battery but I didn't have the battery disconnected from the receiving board (maybe due to the fact that there were no instructions). Now when I turn it on and give it some throttle nothing happens. The lights all flash on the helicopter but nothing else works. I know that both motors are functioning and the transmitter seems to be working correctly, according to the lights, but the blades won't spin. No noises, no burning smells, nothing. The battery is holding proper charge also. I can't return the heli because it will cost over a hundred dollars to ship it back to China, and I only paid $95 for it shipping included. I live in Newfoundland, Canada, and there isn't anyone that I can bring it to to fix it. But, I have somewhat of an electronics/electric motors background and with some sound advice I may be able to fix it myself. I was thinking that the problem is most likely with the receiving board, and I can replace it myself for just $22. Does this sound like it would be my easiest solution?
(NOT READY TO GIVE UP YET. I DON'T WANT MY FIRST RC EXPERIENCE TO BE A BAD ONE. LOL)

Hi macluett,

Certainly sounds like the ESC part of the board is U/S or disconnected in some way. As you say everything is fine apart from no motor power.

At $22 I would give a new board a try, other than that you have a good heli for spares and disassembly-assembly practise.

Tom.

Thanks for your reply Tom. I have now totally scrapped the Heli to gain an understanding of how they really work. I see that once the power wires to all the leds are removed, there's really not much left. I think you're right and I am going to order the board in a last attempt to salvage the heli. It's not a really big issue now that I've ordered my second Heli. I did a little more research this time. lol Thanks again
