Post subject: Tail rotor |
|
|
Just entered rc heli hobby and learning to fly and crash my Blade 120 sr. My question is when holding copter and giving throttle the tail rotor seems to pulsate, speeds up and slows down while throttle stays at same speed. I can't tell if prop is spinning on shaft or it is a different problem. Any info appreciated. |

Hi Pjtaxi,
How does the tail behave when the helicopter is not being held ? The object of having a gyro is to hold the helicopter on a fixed heading to do this it has control over the tail, when you hold the helicopter in your hand you remove the gyro's ability to correct the tail so results can vary. I've just tried it on mine and the tail does not pulse unless I give it a slight movement.
If the gain is set too high you will get tail wag when it flys this could be the cause of the pulsing, it is caused by the Gyro over correcting. There is no real gain adjustment unless your using a programmable radio, that is DX6i or better.
The Blade 120 SR is a great little helicopter to learn on but in reality it is not very sophisticated if you can get it to a stable hover with no tail wag, that's about as good as you will get it, from there it is all good fun with a few idiosyncrasies. |
