Hi jathanjr,

Familiar but have never owned one, my friend owned one of the early ones and had problems programming it then opted to go to an AR7200.

The early ones required a normal receiver the new (ZXY-S) ones only require a satellite received and yes they work with the DX6i either DSM2 or DSMX as well as S.Bus according to the spiel.

Instructions for set up was a problem not sure about now.

Myself I have had success with the CopterX equivalents at around the same price, must say I'm thinking of trying the ZXY-S as apparently you can program them in the field with an Android phone.

so you wouldnt have to buy a seperate reciever for the transmitter when you go with a flybarless system? all one would need is the flybarless head and the system right?

Correct depending on Make and Model, some like the Spektrum AR7200 are complete 3 Axis Gyro and Rx then there are others that only need a satellite Rx or sometimes 2, but you must be carefull to read the specs first some can use DSM2 or DSMX Sats others can only use DSMX.

FBL can be a minefield of mis-information for the first timers, the more expensive systems normally come with good documentation to help you but the cheaper systems can come in a plastic bag with nothing, then you need to sort out fact from fiction on the Web. Having said that the cheaper systems do work and work well.

I own a ZXY (an early version of ZXY-S) for a year now. It mates with DX6i receiver on a HK450 PRO flybarless. I am quite happy with it. The programming is relatively easy if you got an USB program adaptor ($4.00?) and a computer. If you want to program it on the field, you can buy a programmer with LCD screen about $40. I think Tarot documentation is much better than others and easy to understand.
