Post subject: Trimming out a CX |
|
|
OK, I picked up some in line over current protectors for my 4 in 1 (eflh1206), and after plugging a connector in backwards, then comparing the radio response of my CX vs my CX2, I have the bird back in the air. I am looking for the experienced pilot to aid in trimming out this machine. I have basic hover, however, while in hover, the bird flies in a circle, clockwise from overhead. No control I add seems to remedy the situation. If I let the bird hover, the circle will continue larger and larger. I can put it directly in front of me, looking at the nose, and this circle will grow and grow. I have noticed this from the beginning. I bought this 2nd hand, and have crashed and repaired many times. Does it sound like something is bent? Is this the normal for a CX? or is there some adjustment I can make to fix this? Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi kenstuppy,
You have Toilet Bowl Effect (TBE) ther are about 100 posts on this forum about it, it can be caused by several things, Fly Bar too tight, bent inner or outer shaft, faulty bearings, lint or hair binding on the shafts.
Best solution I have found is to strip down the drive train check all the parts for straightness and cleanlyness and re-assemble, sometimes using this method you fix the problem without ever knowing for sure what the cause was. _________________ Keep your rotors spinning

TBE is a common problem with co-axials, and any heli with a 45° flybar. An extremely detailed explanation can be found here:

Basically the flybar isn't rocking freely and easily enough, or something is bent, as Keith said. _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

Hey, Thanks. I learned a lot from that article. This forum provides me much direction, and a large pool of experts who are willing to give me the time. Hopefully one day I will be able to 'chime' in and give you guys a break! TBE is what I am experiencing on my blade CX, and I do not experience it on my CX2, So...... back to the drawing board! Learning is a slow process, for some... _________________ 72 MHz Blade Cx

If you have not already, I would check to see if maybe a weight came out of your flybar somehow... I didn't think it could happen very easily, but I explained to the guy at the hobby shop what my cx2 was doing and he asked me about the missing weight and sure enough when I got home and looked it wasn't there, also the plastic hub with the bearing in it that sits on top of the outer shaft and that the inner shaft runs through might be warped. I would get the aluminum bearing hub and a new bearing also, that might help with the TBE. It helped mine..
Hope this helps _________________ BLADE CX2, 120SR, SR, Scout CX, ESky Big Lama, E500
