To resurect this post ,be sure to check the condition of cf blades before and after every flight much more carefully than I did yesterday. One removed itself from the grip on takeoff ,a fairly messy event not to mention dangerous,[scared the crap out of me]New heli is looking good right about now.V 2 clone is now deceased and in the spares box for my other clones. _________________ amatuers built the ark, professionals built the titannic. |

What happened, lightening? Did the blade just give out or CF fall apart? _________________ E-Razor 450 + Air Hogs Pocket Copter + Radd's School of Rotary Flight = Teh Awesomness |

Judging by the appearance of the two broken ends a slight notch may have been the cause .There may have been internal damage that was not completely evident. A valuable lesson learned without injury is indeed valuable. _________________ amatuers built the ark, professionals built the titannic. |

I have only had one pair be damaged...and that was form the dying chicken dance. But the internal structure seems composed mainly of some foam-stuff. That accounts for the lightness of the blades. Did yours have metal mounts in the connector holes? Mine do but I could still see and issue should the area outside the metal hole crack. _________________ E-Razor 450 + Air Hogs Pocket Copter + Radd's School of Rotary Flight = Teh Awesomness |

One of the areas that I didn't notice until it actually caused a blade to shed ....
The nice blade holders in foam that we all use to fold back our blades ... then clip to the tail boom ... when the blades fold back - the blade holder nicks the blade edge ... where it comes up against the stop. With a GRP / CF blade - the outer skin is providing the stiffness ... the inner part the shock / filler part ...
Back to Celtic's original post ... all my blades so far have been reasonably balanced in the pairs supplied. They are packaged as pairs and I have not needed to swap them around. In fact I take each pair .. balance them and place BACK in the packet - so they remain a pair ... at one time - I used a marker pen to mark pairs on underside at holder part so mark was hidden when in use. _________________ If you don't crash - you ain't flying !

Solentlife, are you saying the blade holder (foamy thing) or the metal blade attachments (directly connected to the head setup) were what was damaging the blade?
I noticed my foamy holder tended to pull the blades downward more than I liked, putting pressure on the connector point. So I just prop the blades on top of the foamy holder and not inside the specific slots. _________________ E-Razor 450 + Air Hogs Pocket Copter + Radd's School of Rotary Flight = Teh Awesomness |

I couldn't understand why all my blades were nicked at the change of form just outside blade holder ... then another post on here - think it was Nick who mentioned it when I did ...
hen you fold back the blades - if not exactly square to boom - the blade hits holder ... and when you lift / transport heli ... the head moves - the holders again nick / catch the edge of blade ...
I still use the holder as designed - but am more careful about angle of blades to boom ... with regard to vertical angle as you mention ... never noticed any problem but worth a look ! _________________ If you don't crash - you ain't flying !
