Six channel heli

Was thinking of purchaseing a six channel but really don't know enough about which one to get. Most all advertise they are the best, but I decided to come to the experts. Any help and info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Danny Question

You will find that opinions on "what is the best" are like bellybuttons....everyone has one!

I personally started with Walkera (CB 180Z) and progressed to a Walkera Hiko 400 to get the 8 channels I wanted to be able to do scale work. I wanted to put my money into the heli proper, not into the TX/RX.
At the same time I did not want "junk" electronics as scale machines (mine anyway in 500 size) run into the thousands of dollars and it is false economy to save on bargain basement electronics.

With that being said, Walkera has come a LONG way in the last few years and their DEVO series of TX/RX are awesome. IMO.

Find the size heli with a DEVO 7 or DEVO 8 that you like and it will allow you to grow in just about any direction that you may want in the future.

Like ferretmaster said - every body has an opinion.

I think the best entry into 6 channel or hobby grade RC helicopter would be in the Blade line. Mainly because there parts are available everywhere there are hobby shops. And of course on line.

My first 6 channel was a Blade B400. Today that is a older model. They now offer the 450 3D @ the same price. They come with the Spektrum DX6I which is a great programmable radio.

The Walkera V450D0V3 fly-barless with six-axis gyro looks to be a good helicopter, the frame has the look of being well thought out design and comes with a Devo 7, and 450s are only slightly larger than the 400 class.

Helipal.com are doing a good deal on them just now.

Seem the 6 axis gyro is a 3 axis gyro with a 3 axis accelerometer thrown in. I was wondering about this too, can't have 6 axis in our dimensions. They've been watching too much Star Trek!

Well, a six axis gyro may seem at odds with basic axises of yaw, roll, and pitch in RC flight control, and it would probably be more accurate to classify these as dual response three-axis gyros, due to functionality variation.

These devices may be designated as gyros, however, they no-longer have rotating wheels inside them from where the name originate. It would therefore be more accurate to designate them as movement detectors (angular or otherwise).

Now I get I think two devices integrated into one a 3 Axis Gyro and a 3 Axis Accelerometer actually both using the same axises but to different purposes.

If you hovering and the wind blows and changes the heading the Helicopter is on the Gyro changes it back to the original heading but does not correct the distance that it has moved from its starting position. The accelerometer measures the distance from the start point and either returns or resists moving from the start position.

Suppose 6 Axis Gyro is better than " Three axis multifunction devise for vectoring heading and relative position" but you could probably find a great acronym in there somewhere.

Ok, the autopilot on full sized aircraft is known as George, so how about Fred (fast responding electronic detector) for RC helis... There's videos on youtube entitled Freddy can fly.

If a 6-axis gyro sound wrong, then how about a ten axis CNC machine.

It depends on your price range, Nitrotek makes great helicopters, and they cost as much as every one else. Helimax also has a great line copters, but they're geared towards performance, and expensive performance at that. I own the "CCPM 6CH WASP X3 - 2.4GHz RTF SKU: KHWX3-01".it's a great 6-Channel heli with a lot of potential.
