Yep, Got my V100D08 and the DEVO 8 only to discover it won't work with the V200DQ01. Bummer!

Nice TX though.

2 RX's coming for my older heli's so at least I'll get some satisfaction there.

D08 is a hoot. Too quick for my curious cat. Drives him nuts. :-}.
Battery life is a bit short though. Had to order 5 more just to get some decent flying time.
I have flown the mcpX and yeah, it is pretty much the same.
Canopy finish not quite so good on the D08 and the tail rotor comes loose but eh! It is cheaper as mentioned earlier.
Nothing a drop of glue won't fix.

Anyhoo. There are still a few of us out here who like Walkera's. (and Eflite, Twister, E sky, Nine Eagles, Foamies and fixed wing stuff, anything that flies really)

Cheers.

I'll be interested to hear your opinion on it, MiracleMart was where I got my V100D08/DEVO 8 bundle as well.

My Genius CP BNF came today and I'm pretty impressed. It connected to the DEVO 8 no problem, and programming the settings was a snap thanks to the touch-screen.

The heli itself is like an mCP X for beginners. You can hit a switch on the receiver and it switches from a normal 3-axis gyro to what they call "6-axis mode."

Since there are only three axes in reality, I think what they mean is 3 gyros for each axis + 3 accelerometers for each axis. At any rate, the result is near co-axial like stability on a CP!

It's almost like an auto-pilot in 6-axis mode; the heli basically flies itself and you just point it in the direction you want to go. Then in normal 3-axis mode it handles just like any other FBL, CP micro. It uses a direct-drive tail motor, but there is very little tail blowout. This may be due in part to the somewhat under-powered main motor; ie, less reactive torque for the tail motor to fight against.

It's obviously meant as a beginner's helicopter so I can't really knock them for not making it as powerful as the mCP X; it's got more than enough power to hover and fly around, just don't expect any speed-blurs when you punch-out.

Looks like it's time to do some horse trading. Confused Do you have a lawn mower or something else that has twirly blades you might "give up" in order to not actually be "adding" another Heli? Rolling Eyes

Good luck with the flower thing!

Looks like I need to spend some of my cash on parts now instead of the Genius.

Just took the V100D08 out for a play and it suddenly spun to the left mid flight. Managed to get it down but with full right stick just to keep it straight. On closer inspection it seems that one of the plastic links from the stab holder to the swash has trashed itself. So much for the advertised durability of plastic rotor parts. Might be worth keeping an eye on that and the loose tail rotor thing.

So then I fired up the V200DQ01 and caught a gust of wind on the 2nd battery. Busted tail rotor, fin and tail support as it hit mother earth.

After that, just for kicks I put my old Twister Chinook into the air and it has now burnt one of its motors.

Having a good day so far. The Genius seems to be getting farther out of my reach just now.

Oh well, they tell me that crashes and repairs are all part of the fun.........

Rolling Eyes

OKAY...my DEVO8 just arrived this afternoon. (Nice fast job Miracle-Mart!)I will take a day or so to try and understand the CD manual and will probably unpack my FHH 500 as it is currently not in a scale fuselage. The poor thing will be my new testing heli, at least for awhile. Report to follow test flight(s).

This DEVO8 has shipped with the RX801 receiver. I have checked the Walkera website and they only mention the RX802. From the photographs on their site it appears that the only difference is the addition of a frame rate indicator LED. The photo is back dropped with a FBL heli, but I see no gyro adjustments in the RX. Anyone got a line on the change? Question

I have 2 RX 801's coming for my larger heli's but they are are not FBL. The RX in the V100D08 which came with the DEVO-8 is an RX2623V-D. It is an all in one unit for the micro FBL. That's about all I am aware of. They don't give a whole lot of information do they?

@nick_onelove. Just for your info, the other link from the swash to stabilizer on the V100D08 has just let go on me too. No crash, just normal flight. I have ordered another 4 as it seems to be a problem with mine. You had no trouble yet?

Cheers

Aha!
Did some research. RX2702V-D might be what you need. 7ch FBL for DEVO TX.

Mine are fine so far B4D, but I took a pretty heavy load this semester, so I haven't had a ton of time to fly lately.

Are any of those "D"-series FBL receivers actually available for purchase yet? I need one for my V500D01 and one for my M120D01, then I can stop hauling around the 2801.

Geez that is pretty steep, but that's the one I need for my V500D01. I found this list:

New receivers Model NO.
RX2452V-D LM180D01,LM130D01
RX2617V-D V120D06
RX2454V-D V100D06
RX2702V-D V450D01,V18G01,V500D01
RX2615V-D V120D05
RX2619V-D V120D02,V120DQ02,V120DQ02D
RX2433V-D V120D01
RX2618V-D 4F200LM,V200D03
RX2620V-D V100D03BL
TX2614V-D V400D02
RX2623V-D V100D08
RX2624V-D AIRWOLF 200SD3
RX2625H GENIUS CP

The M120D01 doesn't seem to be listed . . .

Hi all.

Just wondering how many Devo owners / users are out there now.
I have now had my Devo 8 for 3 years.
It is still the best TX I have owned and I am about to upgrade to another one.
I flashed it with the 'Deviation' firmware about 2 years ago and can assign / program any function to any switch and the complex mixer functionality is beyond belief. Every possible detail is adjustable.
It also allows earlier Walkera protocols and DSM2, DSMX among others.
So good in fact that I have ordered a new Devo 12s and will be doing the same to that when it arrives.
I don't believe that there is any other TX out there with this capability for this kind of money. Please correct me if i am wrong.
I was pleased to see Futaba finally catching up with their 18MZ but $3000 is way over the top.
I think $2000 of that would be for the 'Futaba' sticker.
I spent less than $500 and I wish all the 'brand snobs' the best.
Just in case you are wondering, I use this TX almost every week.
It controls a total of 7 heli's and 6 fixed wing aircraft.
I also use it in IMAC and F3A competition and it has never failed me.
In a way I find it surprising that these TX's don't seem to have caught on although, even at my field, I still hear the old ("Wouldn't trust that thing mate. You need to get a JR / Hitec / Futaba / Spektrum.")
That's probably the main reason.
Anyhow, I'm still loving my Devo. Anybody else with me?

Cheers

OK so this is an old thread, however, if your interested in obtaining Devo RC kit the prices over at bangood.com are very tempting e.g., WK-Devo 10 transmitter only £78.78
Walkera RX1002 10 CH Receiver £22.15

I'm hopping that the fat guy with the red suit will bring me these in December. I'm hankering after building a 600 size near scale Seaking

I'd like to try this, but on a smaller scale:

Hi there Burgess.
I was just curious as to how many people are using /still using Devo's if any and their thoughts about them. Hence my reason for posting on an old thread.
Would I be better to start a new one to ask the question?
Love the Sea King idea. Would you build the fuse from scratch? I have looked into buying scale fuses for the 700 but prices are ridiculous.
Hope the fat guy treats you well this year.

Cheers
