Being new at this I know I will crash alot so what is a good list of extra items to have on hand. Right now my MSRX is grounded cause it didn't come with extra blades and my order hasn't come in yet. Thanks for your help in this. On another note hover practice with the MCPX is progressing nicely. It still gets ugly from time to time but, rookie.

I'd recommend Micro Heli alum blade grip upgrade. The balls break off the stock grips way too easily. Plus it looks really cool Very Happy
Skids are a good idea to keep stocked up on.
Also get some Blade MCX canopy gromets to install on all the ball link studs. Takes a lot of slop out of the rotor head.

General rule with any heli is if you have a spare part on hand, that will be the one part on the heli that didn't break in a crash.
Not my rule, it was made up by the Heli Gods just to have fun at our expense Laughing

If this is for the 120 SR, could you explain this a little more, this is one I have not read about..thanks

MCPX owners quickly came up with the idea that if you slip an O-ring (small canopy grommets work great) over the ball link studs, all the free play is taken out of the link to ball connection. Makes a huge improvement on control of the heli. When E-Filte released the MCPX2 they incorporated this idea into the improved model.
I don't belive this mod would do much for a 120 SR being that it is has a fly bar and that makes it more fogiving when it comes to a little bit of play in the links.

Mine is the new MCPX and has what appears to be rubber gromets already on them. How would I even get that rear servo control link off there in the first place? It's inside a little pocket like thingy. Yeah you can tell I'm real schooled in this area. I want to turn the servo links up two full turns to remove some of the factory set negative pitch cause when I close the throttle it plops down really hard.

Tom
Forgot to mention that I also have to go over half way on the stick to hover. I'd like it to be mid point. Hence the change.

Hi carr52,
You dont need to take the servo links apart to alter the pitch. You can adjust the pitch of the blades in the tx. Go to the pitch curve section and change the % to your liking. Do the changes in normal mode. You will probably have to change low stick and position 2. Assuming you have 50% at midstick (pos 3) you could have low stick at 40% and pos 2 at 45%. That will give you a small amount of negative pitch but not enough
smash the skids to pieces.
If your heli is hovering at just over midstick that is about right for c/p. It would seem to me your heli is set up pretty good.
Remember the brilliant thing about a computerised tx is that you can set your heli up just the way you want it. Use other peoples settings as a guide but tweak them to your own preferences. Experimentation is half the fun and helps find your way around the tx.

Howdy Chopper,
I've got it set in normal at 30-45-70-85-100. Well I know one part thats a must. The pitch links on the blades. Good thing mine came with 4 extras. Thats the part you need to keep aboutma dozen on hand. Yep, hit the coffee table and broke one. Two actually. Still have two left. Also an extra landing gear and blades. Should do it for now. Thanks all.

People at the local (indoor) fly-meet yesterday at the local HS were going through links like peanuts -- by the HANDFUL!! And NOT just the micro/minis, either!!! One guy did a real plant (well, since it was a hardwood gym floor -- I guess it was a "splat!") with his Align 250....he lost a blade as well as a couple of links!!!
The LHS owner carries a (small....) supply of replacement parts for just such emergencies.....he probably sold $30-$40 worth of links alone!!! Smile
(Yeah....I broke one myself....on the mCPx....I had spares, and bought some more....!)

Tom
those little links will disappear quite often when you have a blade strike.
so a dozen is not to many to have on hand.
The swash plate is a must to have on hand also. There are two sets of balls
so when one brakes you can use the other & then the flying is over

The MCPX will toss links, broken or not, never to be found again. But if you put a small drop of hot melt glue or what have you on the ends of the link guides (the forks that the link fits in) then they won't get lost. Will still pop off, but you'll still have them. Just be carefull you don't glue the link to the fork.
Micro Heli alum rotor heads are nice in that the links are captive in the guides.

A good place to buy parts and supplies? Horizon seems to have most of what I want. The only place I've ever done buisness with is xheli and hobby zone. Well they dont have the Blade supplies I want. How is Horizon to do buisness with? I've heard from some on this forum that they really like Horizon. Your thoughts on this? Thank you.

Is a good vendor for stock as well as after market upgrade parts. Very helpful folks should you have questions about something you bought from them, or are even if you aren't sure what part you might need.
