Hello everyone. I've been out of the game for awhile if you wil, but I got the fever bad again. My first Heli was the T-Rex 450 SE. Now I need to know what is new out there and what you all recommend. Looking forward to your replies. Thanks! Come visit my forum at: www.abbottts-rcheli.blogspot.com |

I would stick with the t-rex brand. They're still number 1 in the tech/mechanical side of things. _________________ E-Razor 450 + Air Hogs Pocket Copter + Radd's School of Rotary Flight = Teh Awesomness |

Yep Trex is still the gold standard, nothing has changed in that regard.
I don't know how long you've been gone, but "recently" the popularity of flybarless systems has soared. Check out 3GX, BeastX, and Mikado's Vbar. _________________ Align: Trex 250 3GX + Trex 450 Pro with Vbar

I figured as much. I know there's other good products out there but I was more than impressed with my T-Rex and will always have one. Curious about the 500 series.[/list] |

I have and fly an Align Trex 500 3G flybarless heli and it is a wonderful piece of equipment. I'm an old guy so 3D is not in my abilities, but the type of hovering and forward flight that I do with the 500 makes me extremely happy and keeps the adreline flowing good. I have just purchased and built an Align Trex 550 3GX V2 flybarless heli. I have not done the setup on it yet (holidays got in the way) but it should be in the air in the next few weeks if weather permits. I'm kind of sold on Align products although a lot of the guys at our flying field fly Logo's and they are super smooth flying helicopters. A couple of the guys even have TDR's. All of that way to advanced for a retired guy like me. So probably I will always fly my 500 and hopefully the 550 will be as nice a flying bird. So stick with names you know. Just my two cents. _________________ Blade 400

Think you've got it dead right there Herb. Keep it in the comfort zone and be happy. Drongos rule OK?

Herb you are right. I am not an 3D enthusiast although I have to admit there are a few maneuvers I'd like to attempt. I just love the hovering and the open field flying with the Heli. I still need some practice with bringing it back to me. My forum is all about expressing your pleasures you experiences when it comes to what I consider one of the best past time pleasures I've ever experienced. Come join in if you get the chance. It's funny .... that we all look at TREX as the Original and best .... but I was reading an online article about electric Helis and it stated that TREX copied TT .... and is therefore a clone itself !
I have no idea if true or not.... but would not surprise me.

When I think back, I did little research before I decided to buy into the Align forum. From the little I did do, I sounded like the way to go. It's ironic that I bought into what I consider the best without really knowing it. Keep your thoughts rolling in Happy Flying into the New Year! |
