I just got my new eSky sim. Now I was wondering if the USB controller would work on the phoenix sim?

The Phoenix Sim uses a USB cable with a Din plug that plugs into the trainer port of your TX. That is their copy protection, so any other USB cable will not work and if your TX does not have a trainer port, it will not work.

Hi Rusky,

You need this cable set and it is amazing what you can run. As long as you have bought the software you are not infringing any copywrites. With this you can run 4 of the top sims with your controller as long as it registers as PPM on the computer controller setup. Saves changing controllers/dongles with the sims.

Sorry, you've been misled. Phoenix will NOT work without a dongle which comes with the program. The E-sky controller will NOT work even if you have the dongle because the controller has a USB outlet only. It will however work if it's a transmitter and has an out put for a buddy setup. All you need is the small PS2 type plug with 4 pins which plugs in the back of the E-Sky transmitter and then the other end, a 3.5mm plug goes into the dongle. That's the only legal way of doing it.

You'll find Realflight is the same.

Funny that Bluedog, my copies of Phoenix, Aerofly and RealFlight run with the link I gave earlier. But like I said

However, it may be that current copies (2010 issues) have been updated and may not work.

The only way to run phoenix and Realflight without their own dongle is illegal whether you have the software or not. You must be running an illegal dongle or use illegal software. I assure you the Phoenix dongle will not run anything but phoenix and the same with any other software using a dongle. But then again if someone is getting something they shouldn't they also know that what they are doing is illegal.
I own registered copies of Phoenix, Realflight, Aerofly deluxe pro, Reflex XTR, X-plane, Preflight, Clearview, Microflight, realflight Basic, MSX and FS9. I think I know flight sims. I use them every day as I'm an invalid who stays in bed 24/7. I also fly mini helis in my bedroom and the biggest (33 inches) from my bedroom window. At the mpment I'm building a heli Kit from scratch. I probably won't fly it though. I'd lose it for sure.

I'd keep quite about your link if I were you. That "cable" you mentioned is an illegal dongle and you could go bigtime if you get caught with it. Don't forget that the company selling it keeps records and if he gets caught he has to hand over all his records. And guess who's on them....... YOU with your name and address.

I've looked into the cable and yes I think bluedog might be right. The cable is indeed illegal. There are a lot of those on sales here in Thailand, they are made from China and are definitely not authorized by the software producer.

Well the link has been removed. Good on the admin. They could really be in deep doo doo if the wrong (or right) person spotted it. Software companies have to resort to using dongles to at least "Try" to stop the bad boys. I have heard from a pretty reliable source that some dongles can cause problems when overheated. I've never come across one myself but then there weren't that many around when I was able to fix computers. I found it a bit hard to repair them from bed. That's why I switched to Digital cameras. And now it's helicopters and flight sims.
Flight sims do a good job but if you ever get bored try modifying your aircraft. Most sims have an editor built in. Just get your plane and extend or shorten your wings, move them to about 30 degrees from the horizontal and then see how they fly. Some of them fly better than they did as standard. Then change the thrust to weight ratios. You can get a 747 to do Mach 2. It's good fun but don't forget to save it under another name before leaving it. Don't just save as is or you'll lose the original. I save mine as Bluedog 1 or 2 or something with my name so they don't get mixed up.

Just about everything is changeable in some sims. The size of the prop or the movement of the rudder. The changes are endless and some just make the heli or plane stay stuck to the tarmac or make your heli shoot skyward like a rocket.

Experiment and you'll also learn a lot about the physics of flying. Dare I say, "the skies the limit" I wish I'd never said it now Smile

By the way, don't be mislead by the old "modified by" or "new model" it's more likely someone has got hold of the plane and simply recoloured it in some paint program. So you end up with 5 copies of exactly the same plane but all different colours. But sometimes a smarter person will make actual changes to the plane or heli to make it behave better or more lifelike. And lastly, don't forget that if you do make even a colour change to any aircraft you must mention the original builder and sometimes even ask his permission if you want to put it on a site. Be careful but have fun.

Bluedog.

Hi Bluedog,

As I said all of my software is registered, I do not see how the connection that I use to run it matters. The manufactures are only concerned with illegal copies (and quite rightly). I fail to see how using a non-standard input is illegal. This is akin to saying that you can only use a logitec mouse on microsoft word. Your license is to run the software, input unspecified.
