Post subject: A few questions?????? |

As those that read my last post know I am new to this hobby. I wanted to know what the Gyro lock switch does. I have been trying to figure out how to fly this thing. It's been pretty costly each time I took it out. The last time I took it out I had a feather shaft shatter and parts scattered all around my back yard. Got it fixed and found that the tail boom was also bent from the blade impact. Got that fixed. Try flying it last night but didn't really have good control. I could hover for a short time only then have to set the heli back on the ground. I found that I had the gyro lock swicth in the on postion. Could this be part of the problem and why I am crashing so much? I know I am new and crashing is going to happen but I want to keep it at a minimum.
Thanks again for the help. |

Hi Sparky,
Your crashing would seem to be part of a new learning curve. The usual cause of a crash is over controlling the heli not the gyro setting. If the heli is rotating as you are hovering then that is lack of proper gyro setting up. This rotation in itself will not cause a crash.
Putting the gyro into head lock mode should hold the heli in one direction unless you over ride the gyro with the rudder control. If the heli is wandering off in various directions, then that is lack of control on your part.
Try working through Radd's School of Rotary Flight . It has saved many others a series of crashes but does require patience and perseverance to succeed. Everything you need to become a good heli pilot. THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS! |
