Too many RC helicopters (such as the T-Rex series, Blade, and others) are using that streamlined "bullet-nose" canopy, which doesn't seem practical for providing pilot and pasenger room as in a real helicopter.

A cabin such as on the Bell 47 is more appropriate.

Another more suitable cabin style is on the Big Lama, such as the one I recently ordered. It resembles the cabin of a roomy automobile sedan, which makes it appear even more authentic.

Opposing views are welcome!

Cheers,

Probably the streamlined look is taken to be 'cool' and 'awesome' (hate those words.) Laughing

If different canopy styles were available at the time of purchase, I would surely have chosen something more authentic looking - Bell, Wessex MkV, Lynx, or anything with a big bubbly front. Shocked

Hi Hal,

The streamlined type canopy on most Pod & Boom type machines is cheap to make, no complex details, and more aerodynamic than most scale bodies, there is a whole industry of manufacturers building after market scale bodies for the 450/500/600 machines but most people stick with the bullet type to learn with because nobody want to smash a $150 plus body while learning better to smash a $20 one. Then 3D flyers stay with the bullet type for aerodynamics and the sports flyers (like me) do tend to move towards the scale or semi scale bodies.

I agree that the Bell 47 looks great, but I once spent most of a day in one inspecting a pipeline route in Central Australia in the middle of summer, it was a great day but not that comfortable even with the doors off.
