,I was flying my helicopter and I crashed it wasnt a bad crash however when I weny to fly it again it made a loud screeching noise and it would not take off the ground even with full power.the top set of wings(sorry I dont the proper term;)) were much slower and wobbler than the bottom ones which seemed normal,- I looked at the bottom gear and it looked very loose and wobbly. Please help

Thankyou[/u][/code]

Hi rccaine,

Welcome to the Forum,

Sounds like a bent inner shaft and the bottom drive gear may also be loose, time to take a screw driver and learn a bit more about your helicopter.

Do you know the make and model ? and do you have a schematic drawing of it ?

The inner shaft is the easier one to do, there should be one or two set screws holding the lower gear to the inner shaft loosen them and the top blades complete with inner shaft should be able to be removed, the best thing to do is replace it with a new straight shaft if parts are available, if not you may be able to straighten it if the bend is not too bad.

Good luck

Thanks, been honest I don't know what model it is all its says on the box is 'SkyKing' and 'hight empty of king' on the actual helicopter and there is no drawing. is the inner shaft the shaft running up the centre with the gears and to the top with the rotors? Thanks for the reply,
I've attached some pictures if that might help.

Hi Caine,

If it's this one that you have:
http://www.mountainwarehouse.com/gifts/kids-games-toys/helicopters/018686-2-channel-ir-helicopter-p8487.aspx
then it is very unlikely that you will get any spares at this price (£9.99 GBP ~ $16.11 USD) for the whole thing.

However, it does sound as if that gear needs fixing, check on the securing screws and if possible tighten them up.

Tom.

Hi Caine,

Try the top blades there is a screw holding it onto the shaft, make sure that is tight and lined up with the flat on the shaft.

Sorry about the poor quality photos only have the phone camera at the moment.

Hi keith

At the top thereis no screws at the top as that was my first idea to make sure they were tight but there are no screws or screw holes, it sounds like the gears and grinding or rubbing against something?
Thanks for the reply mate.

Hi Caine,

From your photo, your heli looks to be one of the smaller versions that Skyking do, if so, then the bottom gear is probably a push-fit onto the lower end of the inner shaft. The shaft will have raised splines at the positions where the rotor head and gear fits on.
The inner shaft runs in a pair of small ball-raced radial bearings, top and bottom, within the lower shaft. The lower one may have dropped out, thus coursing the top rotor to wobble and the bottom gear to rub.

Remove the screws and drop off the bottom plate, these screws are quite small so light pressure.

Hold the top rotor head and bottom gear and pull while using a gentle to-n-fro motion. One or other will detach from the inner shaft.
Use a spot of Bostik all purpose adhesive or similar with in the bottom bearing housing and pop the bearing back in and reassemble.
