I need a new heli to play with
I should be getting a nice tax return this year so I'm thinking it'll be another 450, but still not sure if I want the Pro or Sport . Another option I'm mulling over is a cheap bare bones clone and add the motor,ESC, servos, gyro... that I like. A custom build from the skids up. |

If you want a good clone to build without breaking the bank, go over to hobby city and look at the HK450. All metal head and tail, and carbon fiber frame.
I think they are about 50 bucks, so you can't beat it.
They got a 500 for 67 bucks I am going to order real soon... I would lilke something in between my 450 and 600NP. It's fun to have a cheap throw-down heli when you in the mood to try new moves.... |

I don't know about that Crash. I'm sure that sooner or later I'll somehow manage to beat it! You've never seen my collection of bent up main shafts. When I get a few more I'm going to make a nice wind chime out of them all.
Kidding aside, Don't think I'll go for a Rex450Pro. I've looked at many pics of 450Pro builds and fitting the electronics in the narrow frames looks like a nightmare! Wires running in & out frames, ESC's & Rx's mounted ouside the frames. Some do manage to fit everything inside the frames, but then you end up with the Rx and or motor jammed in right next to each other. Could be some danger of not getting good ventalation to the ESC and risk overheating it and RF interference IMO. |

Update on my new T-REX 450 build, well the 3 servo's are in, the tail boom and tail roto is in, oh the tail belt is in, main gear and tail gears are in, all the connecting rods are done. So I'm charging the battery's in the Futaba 6EX and the reciever pack. Tomorrow I'll start setting up the servos and connecting rods. That's it for now |

Fun stuff putting it together, huh??
I just finished rebuilding mine after a really bad crash..
Did a few upgrades while I was at it too.
Scorpion -8 motor, 13th pinion, Castle 45HV ESC with a Castle 10amp BEC set at 6V for all my electronics. My little servos are super fast now.. If the weather is good tomorrow I'll take her out and see how she does.
I am hoping for a 3400rpm head speed. Should make tic tocs better without bogging the head.. |

Say Crash; Just wondering why you went with the 45HV and not a ICE50 ECS? |

I don't know if it's mentioned the Sport manual about adding a little lube to the tail belt (wasn't in the SEv2's). just a couple of small drops of TriFlow will make the belt last a long time. |

I scored it for 90 bucks, brand new unopened.., Running the 6V to the heli really woke it up.. WOW this little guy has some punch now..
I ran a couple of packs thru it today, and she is quick. The tail held better then ever and the headspeed is smokin.. 3350rpm. Climbouts were super fast, rolls and flips were so quick they were stationary. And when I got into trouble, I was able to punch out without bogging the head and recovering. |

Don't put the credit card away just yet You're going to need a good LiPo charger/balancer and good ones don't come cheap, but this is one thing you should not skimp on. You might want to look into getting a Bantam BC6 Dual Power charger.

Dumb Thumbs, Thanks but I race 1/10 mod Truck and 1/8 scale electric buggy April through October so I already have a good charger/balancer. |

Well she is almost ready to hover, the tracking is done. I got lucky on the tracking adjustment, I only had to make one adjustment. I'm now going over everything to make sure it is all done correctlly. Maybe Friday I'll try my first battery pack in Radds coures. |

Need help on pitch setting, as I said in the last post, all the connecting rod a set good. The swash plate is level, but I have one blade read 11* at full throttle and the other reading 12.5* at full throttle. Now if I try to fix this problem then the tracking is not good. Then when I make the tracking good, then I'm back to pitch problem. Help Please
PS; My t-rex 450 has a pro head most of the connecting rod are fixed (you can't adjust them) |

If the tracking is good then I would not worry about the pitch issue. |
