Hiya guys,
FINALLY got one after trying almost every cheap method out there.
What's so amazing is, (or maybe not) it really lives up to it's reputation. Almost everybody here tried like heck to help me get into the air before. with the B400, the CopterX and EXI helis, of course it was me not understanding what to do that was the real culprit but...the Heli cudda helped a little bit?
Well, after much instruction from Tombo and PJ and Crashagain...oh, and "Finless" my very 1st takeoff (today) on the Align Trex was smooth! I was so amazed, the tail did what I wanted it to do, it sounded good,....in fact I was so amazed that I totally screwed up and totally forgot the RIGHT STICK!!!!
I just stood there with my jaw hangin' to my knees as it drifted off to the left on my front my lawn, "it's Friggin' flyin'!!! OMG!!!!" I thought to myself. BUT...WAIT!! "What do I do? heeelllpp! Ok, lower it NOW!" So... I did, not too bad but a blade hit the boom...yes, bent beyond repair, broke the plastic tail rotor pushrod holder also, but what was cool about that was it did not even scratch the CF Align blades! Every other time I did that with the wooden blades I had to replace the blades along with the boom.
(Note to self: buy a buncha CF blades and booms... Wink)
Mainly what I am getting at is: I don't know anymore than I did when flying the other helis, but to be honest the Align flew better, IF I had had my wits about me I cudda brought it back to the right and maybe, possibly, probably kept it at a hover , I honestly was expecting it to start doing all kinda squirrly ass crap like the others did and tip over or spin around on its' axis, instead it did what it was supposed to do, almost, obviously I don't have something right in my setup for it to drift left like it did but still in all, it did great, it was a beautiful drift, my tail was straight, cuz I was thinking about tail..*cough* Shocked hehe,..but seriously, the next flight will be a real flight!

Do you have a sim you can practice on your PC? Crashes on a sim are lots cheaper then the real world crashes.

Howdy Trouble:

I sure admire how you stick with it and don't give up. Your threshold for pain is allot higher than mine. I would have thrown the towel in along time ago. My check book could not keep up the pace as yours has.

You've got a sweet looking helicopter there. I'm real glad your making progress. You've also got one hell of a nice stable of helicopters.

DT, Your right, and yes I do, was just too excited and just plain forgot everything....I am getting pretty good on the Sim, no 3d but figure 8s are way too easy now, nose in is the thing I am on now, I am using the RF3.5 with the most powerful heli it has just to make it tougher on me, very hard to do but I figure if I can fly it then...well, you know. But all that just went out the window when the real thing took off.

PJ
!! What up Bro? Ha, my tolerance for pain is beyond belief!! (Really, it is...) and NO, my pocketbook has put the locks on...sigh....she..I mean IT, yeah, that's what I mean, IT... has said "ENOUGH"!!!
Threshold for pain, lmao, These helis just don't know who they messin' wit!! I absolutely REFUSE to let some piece of cheap-ass (I don't mean pricewise) aluminum beat me. just not gonna happen buddy! IF I have to mortgage the house I WILL fly a RC heli and do inverted (don't care 'bout any other 3D, just want to hover/fly upside down!) flight, then I will prolly quit and go to something else, ROFLMAO.

Thanks for the compliment on my helis, i'm gonna do like you pretty much and get the cheaper Servos for the CopterXs', use them to train with for just in case. Will get better ESCs though, hehe. I am saving up for a Scorpion 55amp ESC for my new Scorpion motor, which will go into the Trex once I can actually fly it, lol. The 2 Align motors & ESCs will go into 2 CopterXs and one will get whatever I can get, maybe use it to experiment with all the cheapo stuff out there and see which is worth while.

Actually, after a good nights sleep I think I might get rid of them all 'cept the Trex and save up for the Rex 600.

Hey Trouble:

Sounds to me like your really a builder than a flier. You really like to assemble stuff. I like that part of modeling also. I was into o gage train for years. repairing and building layouts. But when I was done they got boring in a hurry. Planes were fun. Building and trimming. And I really do like flying planes. RC submarines are also a real kick. Very hard to build, lots of maintenance but a little boring to run. I mean all you get is running on the surface or diving and hope to surface again. I under stand a fellow in NC has developed a torpedo system. I've seen it. Looks very complicated and expensive. It would fit in my 6 foot American Gatos class submarine. But currently all my dollars go into Helicopters. So the Torpedoes will have to wait.

Good luck with further development with the RC helicopter skills. The Sim time will help with that 'I forgot what to do with the sticks' thing that happened to the T-Rex. After a while it becomes to be a natural thing.

Hiya PJ,
Unfortuantly it sounds as if I am a builder instead of a flyer, but.. that's all done now, no more building, no more buying! just flying, and the repairs that go with it Wink . Yes, i know the Sim works wonders, but been spending all my time trying to setup the damn heli to fly, but can't get a real person to help and my skype flakes out on me after 2 minutes, so can't show anybody anything, and I never had any reason to learn electronics..til now..so at a great disadvantage there. Actually, to tell the truth, I "think" all I need now is just to know how to level the rotor head at hi stick,..and keep it lvl from lo to hi stick...(I have it lvl at mid stick.) Unless there is something in the ESC that a beginner needs to know or do then all I need is that. And more Sim time of course.

That torpedoe thing sounds pretty dang cool!! Shocked

Hello Trouble:

The SKYPE thing saved my a$$. Without that I'd still be looking at my first kit. Tombo242 walked me through the set up several times. I don't really retain things that are told to me I must figure it out on my own to get it in my head. The DX6I is one hell of a radio but I do get lost in it and I don't really know what all that stuff does. when I get stuck I email Tombo and ask for a SKYPE session. He should charge because he's really got it in the head. He always knows what to do.

I had a tail waggle and did what I thought I should do but to no avail. I made a movie and sent it to Tombo. He sent back a email and said 'reduce the gyro in the radio settings .5 at a time. You have the gain to high. I did that from a 66.5 setting to a 55.0 setting. How the second AXI is a sweet flier. Still not a good as the B400 (nutin' is) but it will do. I'm very happy with the second AXI kit now. I've got lots of flights on it now. Getting ready to go out back and get three more. That new E-Flite 25 amp ESC fixed up the heli good.

I've got two AXI kits. the first one has all E-Flite parts on it and was great right from the start. The second kit has cheap China parts with the E-flite ESC. It's a good every day flier. I'm having fun with it. But I love my B400. that thing is so good. flies light on the skids and will stay right where you put it. I'm not into wild bug flying. I just putt around. If I come down with what I went up with I'm happy. With RC planes I'm wild. I will ring one of those out. Currently I only have an electric RC E-Flite 62" cub so wild is not in the cards now.

Maybe you should try to down load the new Beta copy of SKYPE (5.0). I did yesterday and it looks better. More bell and whistles. Maybe that will perform better for you. I fact Tombo told me that you can have more then one other person on SKYPE if you all have 5.0. Food for thought.
