I just had a 180D delivered lat night. Today reading some of the older posts, newest I found was around Jan, 2010, on e of the complaints was the limited range of only 60 feet after which the copter lost control. Has this been fixed by Walkera. The instruction manual does not addressn this problem. I will test the range, on the ground to see how far I out I get a response. If only 60', I may return it before I use it.

I also have bananahobby's Golden Contra that is a spitting image of the CB180, with the exception that it has no fly bar, but has a 3axis gyro. Bizwork's radio is a knock off of Walkera's and in addition it has tuning dials and rate switch. The dials can limit the max rpm and fine tune the tail spin. It is a 2.4 radio and wondering if this maight bond with the CB180, which will give me a range of 300+feet. More than what I will need. Look at bananahobby Golden Contra and see what I mean.

It's a Spektrum Tx, highly unlikely that it will bind with a Walkera Rx. Your range is often limited by the Rx not the Tx, an aerial wire masked, missing or bent will often reduce range dramatically.

Make sure that the Tx aerial is not pointing directly at the model, that will give the weakest signal. That's why most of us fly with the 2.4gHz aerials bent to 90º and not straight.

Tom.

My concern was that the CB180D just had a short range of 60 feet as described by several owners of the 2010 production. But today, I placed the copter on the ground and walked over 150 feet and was able to control the rpm with my son watching for inputs such as forward, back tilt as well as aileron tilt. It worked. Now, will it be different in the air? Will see. Yes I know about the antenna orientation.

Than you for you reply

In general, that ground to ground range is usually considerably less than ground to air range for normal operation.

I recommend going 2.4gHz, as soon as is feasible. All of those signal and range problems will be a thing of the past, as they should be .

The later Walkera 180D is 2.4gHz Nick, so maybe the short range reviews were on the old system.
