Hello enemra and welcome to the forum.

I notice that you've asked the same question over at
rctech.net on their vintage-forum section.

Here's a link to Ikarus the people there ought to have the tech info about both motors that you need.

Thanks.

I already sent a mail to Ikarus (the same link you provided) and they said that they do not have any information on that motor. Funny Smile

Hi Folks,

Just a guess, but that looks like a brushed motor, in which case I would say 3 cell sounds about right. Basing that on the 12C rating 1320mAh Li-Po battery recommended.

That's the usual sort of voltage required on that spec. Just a well informed guess, don't blame me if it blows up!

Tom. Smile

I've had another trawl for info on those motors but no luck, so here's an alternative to determine the volts and amps from each motor it self.

Here's two videos on youttube,
#1 How to determine motor voltage
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN_WMMyOy7c
#2 How to Determine DC Motor Current/Amp Draw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwFE-NkzR-k

The G-410 will probably be the more powerful of the two motors. Even so, it will not really be powerful enough for a 450 class helicopter.
Is there some reason as to why you wish not to use any of the available DC ESCs on the market, or to use a brushless power train?

Both those DC motors will have a finite working life duration and the brushes will ware away to nothing and end of life for the motor.

I'm with Burgess on this one, I hadn't noticed the 450 class heli part. The 410 motor is more suited to driving just one rotor of a largish coaxial heli. (e.g. The metal Sky King!) It's for sure that a 12C battery is not powerful enough for a 450, it will overheat but the motor burning out may save it first!

Good luck,

Tom.

Thanks to Tom and Burgess.

@Tom: Your previous post ("12C rating 1320mAh Li-Po battery recommended") makes sense.

It's mentioned here: http://www.rotory.com/fbbuploads/1171805913-piccolopro.pdf

Good link that Enemra,

The Piccolo Pro is a micro heli with a main rotor span of 540mm, the 450 will have a main rotor span of more than 700mm that will take a lot more power to drive and your 410 motor will not do it. It would be like trying to put a scooter motor into an 18 wheeler, you could do it but it's not going anywhere.

You will need something like this to get it off the ground:

Some good links there Burgess and useful as they are all outside of the U.K. Currently the U.K links are not so good for a Dutchman like Enemra, we do have to think internationally here. The postage is much cheaper from China to the Netherlands than from U.K. to the Netherlands.
