Is charging at maximum charge rate ok?

Is it ok to be always charging at the maximum charge rate labeled by the battery? Like mine says "the charge rate cannot exceed 1A" so I always charge at 1A. My friend said it could damage the battery.

Should be fine... but if you're worried, maybe bring the charge rate down a little to .7 A.

I think it should be fine because I always charge at the max rate and it's alright. I use a cheap charger and a balance too (gree prolux + prolux balancer).
